“Gil,
were you by any chance this bad at painting when you were a
kid?” Sara looked at her husband in absolute astonishment.
He was covered in paint.
“Why’d you ask?” Grissom placed the paintbrush he was holding on top of the paint
tin and turn to his wife as she approached.
“Because, you are wearing more than the wall is.” He watched her as she wiped
paint from his cheek and neck.
Sara focused on the still wet paint and used the sleeve of her coveralls to
wipe it away. She felt him watching her as his eyes wonder over her body. He
stopped and stared at her belly and reached out a hand and ran it over the
protruding bump softly making her shiver a little at the sensation. She smiled
and met his eyes as he raised his head.
“Has she been kicking today?” He asked with a smile, his hand still touching
her.
They had both been referring to the baby as ‘she’ ever since they went to the
third check-up months ago and it wasn’t gone unnoticed by the rest of the CSI
night shift, they thought it was cute, well that’s what Heather said from the
front desk.
“Some, but not much, she’s calmed down a lot since 30 minutes ago. I thought
she was never going to get comfortable, she turned twice within 5 minutes.” She
grinned as she covered his hand with hers. He leaned into her and kissed her
briefly. Pulling back she suggested. “I’m hungry, let’s leave this for a while
and get something to eat. We have work tonight and I’d like to get some sleep
before we leave.” Sara turned to put her paint roller down as Grissom replaced
the lids of the paint tins.
“Ok, I’m cooking, so what do you ‘two’ want to eat?” Sara followed him out the
room and closed the door behind her making sure the cat couldn’t get in.
Laughing softly she replied. “Funny, let’s see…erm…pasta salad and orange juice
sounds nice.” She made her way to the couch and sat down, while at the same
time kicking off her shoes and removing her socks. With two failed attempts,
she managed to swing her legs to put her feet up onto the coffee table. “God
that feels good.” She sank into the couch, letting out a deep breath signalling
relief. “My feet are killing me.”
Grissom stopped from opening a cupboard and peered over the kitchen counter
and smiled. “Well, while the pasta’s cooking, I’ll rub them for you.” He watched
as her head fell back against the couch and smiled. Grissom pulled the pasta
out of the cupboard and poured some into a saucepan and filled it with water.
He left it to cook and walked back into the living room. He sat on the coffee
table and raised Sara’s feet to rest on his lap.
“Hmmm, that feels good too.” Grissom chuckled and began to rub her right foot.
“How many case files did you manage to get through last night?”
“A lot. Did I ever tell you desk duty is great?” She raised her head and gave
him a sarcastic grin with meaning behind her words.
He shook his head knowing what the question was behind her eyes. “No way, you
are on desk duty till the baby comes and even then the doctor said you have
to take maternity leave.” Sara’s head fell back dramatically with groan.
“I’m all for having this baby, but I’m going crazy at the lab…Everyone knows
me and worse…I know each of them; on a first, middle and second name basis and
their birthdays. I even know where they grew up. That has got to be bad. I’ve
never socialised so much in my entire life.” Grissom laughed and started rubbing
her left foot as she rambled to the ceiling.
“Think of it this way. The more people we know at the lab, the larger the babysitting
list grows.” Sara laughed and shook her head.
“Nice. I should have fought about that.” Grissom finished rubbing her feet, he
leaned over her to grab a cushion, shaking the book on it, onto the couch and
places it under her feet. He then went back into the kitchen to check on the
pasta.
Sara picked up the book and began to read it. Grissom put together the pasta
salad and poured the orange juice into two glasses.
Since Grissom asked Sara moved in with him before their wedding, his townhouse
had taken on a few changes. The living room was split in two. It was large
enough to have a dining room one side containing a nice wooden dining table
and four chairs. On the other side was the living room. The large comfortable
couch with a coffee table in front of it. Bookshelves lined one wall to accommodate
both their books, CD’s, and videos, Grissom’s butterfly collection covered
another wall. A TV was opposite the couch in front of the coffee table. Another
desk for Sara’s computer accompanied Grissom’s in his office and Pictures scattered
numerous walls throughout the townhouse including bedroom, those from work,
their wedding, and outings with the gang and Lindsey and their honeymoon were
framed and on display for all to see. The spare room was on its way to becoming
the nursery. They had the crib and various other pieces of furniture, all they
needed to do was to finish painting it and wait for the baby.
“Honey, dinners ready.” Grissom placed the plates and glasses on the table. He
walked to the couch and noticed that she was consumed in the forensic textbook
he left there earlier.
“Hmm?” Grissom pried the book from her fingers and placed it on the coffee table.
He looked down at her other hand covering her belly.
“Come on. Give me your hand.” Sara grabbed hold of his offered hand and moaned
at the movement as he pulled her to stand, with her other hand helping to push
her up.
“God, I swear I’m getting heavier by the minute.” Grissom chuckled and guided
her over to the table to the steaming hot pasta salad. Sara sat and picked up
her fork. “Mmmm smells great.” She began to eat when the doorbell rang.
Grissom with his fork half way to his mouth groaned at the disturbance. “I
can’t believe this, whenever I want some time with you its interrupted.” He
got up and walked to the door. He turned to his wife. “I’m gonna scream if
its Catherine.”
Sara smiled and said with a hint of amusement. “She does seem to have the nak
of turning up and ringing at awkward times doesn’t she?” She continued eating.
Grissom opened the door and was pleased it wasn’t Catherine, instead it was
a deliveryman with a package. Signing for it he closed the door and headed
back to the table. Looking at the package, he placed it on the table in front
of Sara.
He spoke as he picked up his fork and shovelled the food in quickly expecting
to be pulled away again. “It’s addressed to both of us. Do you want to open
it?” Sara looked at him, then at the package and then her plate. He smiled
at her reaction.
“No.” Was all she said before she filled her fork with a piece of lettuce and
some twisted pasta.
“Neither do I.” He pushed the package away from them both and tucked into his
own food.
Four
glasses of orange juice later; Sara pulled the package towards
her. Grissom had washed the dishes and disappeared to the bathroom.
Sara scanned the package looking for any familiar postmarks, but she couldn’t
find any. The package was a box at about 10inches by 6inches and thick, wrapped
in brown paper. The post office stamp had faded in its travels and it had several
stamps covering it. Turning the box over and inspecting it at different angles
she slowly began to open it and inside found a book.
Grissom came up behind her and put his hands on her shoulders as her peered
over her head, watching her lift the book out of its packaging and run her
hand over the smooth leather of the front cover. It was a photo album and on
the front the title said ‘Grissom-Sidle Family Album’. Opening it to the first
page was an enlarged photo of them when they first met at the seminar so long
ago. The second photo was of them at a Christmas party at the lab and last
photo was of them at their wedding in front of the church.
She pulled the letter from the envelope that accompanied the book. Her eyes
burned with tears and sniffled as she read it allowed.
“Dear Sara and Gil,
I was looking through the Sidle family albums the other day and just by chance
I found these photos. I thought that you would like to start your own family
album with the little one on the way and so I managed to get this specially
made for you. I hope you treasure it as much as each other.
Lots of love
Mother.”
Grissom crouched down beside Sara; she turned to him as he pulled her into
a warm embrace. She cried softly into his shoulder at the precious gift from
her mother.
Still crying she said into Grissom’s neck. “I have no idea why I’m crying.” Pulling
away and wiping the tears away with her sleeve. Grissom stop her and used his
sleeve instead.
“You now have paint on your face. Come on. I ran a bath for you.” Sara smiled
and followed him to the bathroom.
Grissom sat on the edge of the bathtub and watched as Sara sank into the bubbles.
She was about to ask for the soap when. “Ouch!” Sara rubbed her belly and grimaced.
“What’s wrong?” Grissom knelt on the floor and covered her hand with his.
“It’s ok…she decided to turn is all. Must be concerned about me crying.” Sara
sank back down in the water and caressed his ear as he stared at her stomach.
The baby was kicking and although some of it was painful, she watched him as
his smile grew. “Cool huh?”
“Yeah.” Grissom leaned over and kissed her softly. “I’m going to change out of
these and set the alarm. I’ll back in a minute ok?” Sara pulled him back before
he could stand and kissed him again.
He smiled and got up. “Ok.” She said as she closed her eyes and revelled in
the steam as her whole body relaxed. The baby stopped moving and seemed to
enjoy the bath as much as Sara did.
-
Greg
was sat on the counter in the break room talking to Nick. Shift
hadn’t started and neither Grissom nor Sara had arrived yet.
They weren’t late so there was nothing to worry about.
“Do you think they have thought of a name yet?” Greg was frilled when he found
out Sara was pregnant and was even more frilled when he was invited to their
wedding.
Nick was eating a sandwich and thinking about the baby. He swallowed before
speaking. “They haven’t said anything, but knowing them they have a name all
picked out. I for one like the name Libby, if it’s a girl.”
Greg agreed. “Yeah I like that and Greg if it’s a boy.” Nick started choking
on his sandwich as he laughed. “What? I like it.”
Recovering Nick shook his head. “Of course you like it, it’s ‘your’ name. I
don’t think they’d go for it though.”
Greg playfully, looked hurt. “Why not?”
Nick thought for a second and with a smile. “One: I’m sure they have already
thought of a name and two: one Greg is enough.” Greg shrugged his shoulders
and jumped off the counter, picked up his coffee and walked towards the door.
“I suppose. Anyway, one day there’ll be a little Gregory junior running around
one of these days, so I can wait.” Nick grinned and shook his head at Greg’s
retreating form and sat down on the couch.
Warrick and Catherine entered talking about Lindsey. Warrick poured three cups
of coffee. He handed one to Catherine and walked over to Nick and handed him
the other, keeping one for himself.
“Thanks man.” Nick turned the TV on and watched as the football scores came up.
Warrick and Catherine sat at the table continuing their conversation about Lindsey
and school.
“She got a great mark for her science project on volcanoes and was asked to do
it again in front of her whole year next week.” Catherine was so proud of her
daughter she couldn’t stop talking about her.
Warrick laughed when she told him about her home smelling of vinegar and the
kitchen counter stained with red dye. “We’re gonna have to take her out this
week and celebrate.”
“Yeah she’d like that.” Catherine drank her coffee and opened one of the magazines
on the table and started reading it.
Sara came walking through the door and straight for the fridge. All three heads
turned and greeted her. “Hey guys.”
“Hey Sara, When’d you get here?” Nick turned to face her, hanging over the couch
arm.
“Twenty minutes ago, hey Catherine how’d Linds science project go?” She asked
as she carefully bent at the knees to pull the juice from the top shelf. Nick
got up to her assist.
“Let me get it.” Nick lifted the carton out and handed it to Sara.
“Thanks Nicky.” She was about to open the carton as Nick closed the door, but
stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. She noticed a small container at the
back of the fridge hiding behind a large yoghurt pot. Catherine answered her
question, but soon realised she wasn’t listening anymore. Sara put the carton
down. “Nick pass me that please.” Sara pointed at the container and Nick lifted
it out. She turned to the others who went back to whatever they where doing when
they saw Nick retrieve the container full of blood. Nick sat back down on the
couch trying to avoid the conflict that was about happen. It was quiet apart
from the TV. When she said with a hint of anger, but tried to stay calm. “I’m
gonna kill him. That husband of mine is dead meat.”
Catherine
couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing. “He’s
in for it now.”
Warrick looked out the door to find Grissom walking towards them with his head
in a case file. “I’m guessing he hasn’t seen an angry pregnant women before.”
Catherine stopped laughing and looked at Warrick. “Why’d you say that?”
Warrick stood ready to leave, “Because, he’s heading this way and not noticed
the danger.” Catherine stood and followed him out the door. Nick didn’t want
to see what was coming, so turned off the TV and also scampered from the room.
Grissom was just reaching the door when he raised his head with a smile to
greet everyone, when it disappear rapidly when he saw his angry wife holding
the container he was coming to liberate. He did a quick heel turn, but before
he could take another step she called out him. “Don’t even think about it mister.” Grissom
stopped dead in his tracks, closed the file he was holding and closed his eyes
briefly before turning around very slowly, but when opening them he kept his
eyes wondering the room, avoiding eye contact. He cleared his throat and took
a step back, just to put a bit more room between.
She wasn’t quite sure what to tell him that he hadn’t already been told about
putting his experiments in the community fridge. She just scowled at him waiting
for him to try and weasel his way out of the situation.
He thought he had better try to at least give her an explanation. “Sara, honey….” He
stammered, but he could think of an explanation, he rubbed his forehead free
of the sweat that had suddenly formed.
She looked down and made sure the container was securely sealed and tossed
it in the air towards him. He saw it coming and in order to catch it he dropped
the case file. The numerous sheets scattered the floor. He caught the container
and looked at Sara with complete shock. Before he could speak she grabbed the
carton of juice and a glass and brushed past him in complete silence.
“Well I expected screaming and your blood all over the walls.” Catherine said
as she bent down to pick up the file and papers. Arranging them before handing
them back to a still shocked Grissom.
“I swear I forgot about the experiment. I meant to take it out when we got here.” Grissom
looked at the blood and gulped audibly.
Catherine looked at him and suggested. “Give me the assignments and you go
talk to her. You won’t see her all night so take time now.” Grissom handed
her his office key and the blood. Catherine looked at the container with disgust.
“Please,” He stressed. “Just put it in my fridge in the office. It’s full, but
take my lunch out and leave it on my desk” Catherine nodded and left.
Grissom walked cautiously down the corridor, not sure which computer lab Sara
was in and didn’t want to be snagged by surprise. Instead he got the shit scared
out of him as Sara’s voice was heard from the room he had his back to.
“I’m not going to get mad at you.” Sara was sat in front of a computer facing
the screen. She saw him stop outside the door and flinched at the sound of her
voice.
He sighed and turned around. “I’m truly sorry. I meant to take it out honestly,
but I forgot.” He entered the room and pulled up a chair. Sara picked up a
result sheet and continued to read while he talked. “Sara, I know you don’t
like my experiments in the fridge at home, but I didn’t have anymore room in
my office fridge. I was desperate.” Sara kept her face down to hide the smile
at his confession.
“Hmm… Well…as long as you’ve learned your lesson… I suppose I can forgive you… Just
don’t do it again.” Grissom breathed a sigh of relief, but stopped when she continued. “But,
your going to have to be more careful, Gil. When the baby’s born you know? I
can just see our child following in her fathers footsteps and becoming fascinated
with seeing blood in the fridge all the time before she can crawl.” She said
putting down the file. She turned to him and took his hand.
“I will and I promise from now on that no more blood will be found in the fridge
at home or in the break room.” She let his other hand travel up her arm to her
shoulder to around her neck. She closed her eyes as they leaned forward. His
lips brushed hers in a slow kiss, breaking away they gazed at each other. “I
better go.” Sara looked down at their holding hands and lifted it to her cheek.
“Ok.” Grissom stroked her cheek and lowered his hand to her belly; he leaned
down and kissed it.
“I’ll see you both soon.” He said resting his cheek on her belly. He kissed it
once more and stood.
“Be careful.” Sara said softly as she turned back to the computer letting go
of his hand, not wanting to see him leave.
-
Grissom
met Catherine by his Tahoe with the assignment in hand. Catherine
noticed he didn’t look too happy and wondered why. Not saying
a word he tossed her his keys indicating she could drive and
got in the passenger side when she unlocked it.
The car was quiet, too quiet for Catherine’s liking. She didn’t want to upset
Grissom further by asking questions, but she wanted to know what was wrong. “Gil,
is something wrong?” Grissom didn’t respond, he just kept looking out the side
window. He seemed in deep thought. “Gil?” She tried again raising her voice
a little more.
“I’m fine.” Grissom stared at his hand and played with his wedding band. Whenever
he was thinking about Sara he would twist the piece of metal round and round.
Catherine noticed this and told him. “She’s alright you know.” Grissom nodded
still twisting the band. Catherine had to think of a way to cheer him up and
when she did she smiled. “Have you thought of a name yet?” Grissom looked up
and smiled. ‘BINGO’ Catherine thought.
“Actually yes.” He smiled brightly covering his hand with the other.
“Well? Are you gonna tell me?” Grissom shook his head. “Why not?” Catherine’s
smiled faded with disappointment.
“Both Sara and I agreed not to tell anyone until the baby is born.” Grissom
grinned at her knowing she wanted to be the first to know and he was right.
“I won’t tell a soul.” He shook his head again. “Gil please, I really want to
know.”
He laughed and when they arrived at the scene he said. “I’ll ask Sara first,
but I can’t promise anything.” Catherine’s smiled spread across her face and
nodded.
-
Both
Grissom and Catherine were shocked when Brass filled them in
about the crime scene and bodies. Grissom hid his emotions
as usual and Catherine tried to as well, but it was difficult.
They collected the evidence and took photo’s processed the
bodies and waited for the coroner to take them away.
The journey back to the lab was spent in silence, both thinking about the case.
The case seemed to hit close to base for the two CSI’s Grissom thought about
Sara and Catherine thought about her daughter Lindsey. It’s not everyday you
get a pregnant women and her two children killed in one night. It rarely occurs.
Grissom had only experienced a similar case once before when he was a rookie,
but these were different circumstances. He was married and had a child on the
way. He couldn’t help what he was feeling and he desperately wanted to see
Sara. Catherine understood completely, she wanted to go home and hold Lindsey.
“Gil, I’m gonna drop you off and then go see Linds, ok? I bring the evidence
in when I get back. It’s nothing that can’t wait.”
Grissom found his voice, but it was quiet. “Sure, take your time.”
Grissom walked straight to his office and collapsed into his chair. He stared
at the picture on his desk and picked it up. He studied it like he’s done with
every hard case that comes in. The picture was of Sara showing her bump a 6
months and him hugging her from behind. It was a good day; their day off and
they spent the sunny day reading in the garden.
A figure materialised in his doorway and looked up. “Tough case?” Sara closed
and locked the door. She walked across the room and sat on the couch in the
corner. She lift her feet and swung them onto the couch as she turned to lean
against the arm.
“Yeah.” He said barely audible. Grissom would and could only ever admit his feelings
to Sara, because she was the only one who was able to pull that wall down he
built around himself. He only uses that wall with others, even Catherine.
“You wanna talk about it?” Sara looked across at him and held out her hand. Grissom
took it and moved to sit beside her as she moved to a sitting position. He slid
between the couch arm and her back as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled
her back to his chest tightly. He rested his forehead on her shoulder and breathed
out heavily. She covered his hand with hers and entwined their fingers while
she held his head to her shoulder with the other. “It’s ok Gil. I told Nick to
not let anyone within 10 feet of this room.” This was a sign for him to let his
emotions run through his body. At first his eyes became wet and his breathing
got faster. Sara stroked his head as he cried quietly into her shoulder. She
turned her head and kissed his temple and leaned her head against his. He pulled
her tighter to him as he cried a little harder and squeezed her hand. “Ssssshhhh…It’s
ok…” He pushed his face softly into her neck and soon the tears stopped from
falling, he lifted his head a little as he rubbed his cheek against hers and
turned slightly to kiss her below the ear.
“I love you.” He said quietly into her ear.
“I know, I love you too.” Sara turned in his arms, bring her feet to rest on
the floor as she faced him sideways and wiped the tears away with her thumb.
Grissom held her hand and brought it to his mouth and kissed it.
-
Mean
time, Nick was standing watch. Warrick came walking down the
corridor towards Grissom’s office. “Stop, No one enters.” Warrick
looked at him and tried to walk around him, but Nick held up
his hands. “Sorry man, I have my orders.”
Warrick laughed. “From whom?”
“Sara.” Warrick stopped laughing and nodded.
No one ever questioned why at times Grissom’s office was off limits, but when
someone and it’s always Nick, is posted outside to stand watch. Nick never
told anyone, but he also never knew. He trusted Sara and Grissom and when people
never asked he knew they trusted them also. Warrick turned around telling Nick
he’d be back later.
-
Grissom
stood and helped Sara up. Sara looked into his now less puffy
eyes and ran her fingers through the hair above his ear and
pulled him towards her. She closed her eyes and brushed her
lips with his softly. As he closed his eyes Grissom ran his
hands down her sides squeezing gently. Breaking the kiss and
stepping back he straightened his shirt and smiled.
Sara reached up and wiped his lips free of the faint lipstick and smiled back. “You
feeling better?”
“I am now, thanks.” He took her hand and lowered it. “I’ll see you later, I’ve
got a case to close.”
“Ok, You know where I am if you want me.” Sara turned as he let her hand go.
Grissom sat at his desk and wiped his face to calm down. He watched as Sara
spoke to Nick outside his office. Nick nodded and gave her a hug before leaving.
Sara looked through the open doorway and waved before going back to work. Grissom
just smiled and leaned back in his chair taking deep breathes.
-
Catherine
had returned half an hour later and delivered the evidence
to Greg. She was sat talking to him when Grissom walked in
with the autopsy reports. “Here, you’ll want to read these.” He
said passing the reports to Catherine. “Get anything yet?” He
turned to Greg who just shook his head and went back to the
epithelial’s under the scope.
Catherine scanned the reports and slumped down on the stool. “Those poor kids.”
Grissom leaned against the doorframe and stared at the floor. “So far we’re
at a dead end, so let’s grab Nick and Warrick and go back to the scene. They’ve
finished their robbery haven’t they?”
“Yeah, I think there in the break room.”
Together they walked into the break room to find Nick and Warrick playing on
one of their computer games. Warrick was edging Nick on. “Come on Nicky…My
mother can play better than you…”
Nick just laughed and quickly punched the buttons of his controller. “Hooah…I
got ya...ha.” Nick jumped up from his seat and cheered.
Warrick stared at the computer screen and then at Nick. “Where the hell did
you learn that move, man?”
“I’ve been practising bro. Didn’t I tell ya footballs my game?” Nick sat down
again, but turned to the door as Catherine and Grissom came through it. “Hey
guys.”
“We need some extra hands so grab your kits and meet us outside.” Grissom jumped
straight in and watched as Warrick turned the computer off and Nick and him walked
passed them to get their gear.
Catherine walked to the fridge and pulled out a plastic carton. Grissom took
it as she held out to him. “No thanks, I’m not hungry, anyway Sara loves Rhubarb
and Custard, especially cold.”
“That’s who it’s for. Go on.” Catherine nodded towards the door with a smile.
“Ok. I’ll meet you at the crime scene.” With that Grissom left to find Sara.
This time she was in a layout room looking through a piece of clothing. “You
know, I’ve scanned, scrapped, and swabbed this and nothing new has come up.” She
said without looking up.
“Now, how did you know it was me?” Grissom asked as he watched her stand up and
grimace as she rubbed her back.
“Like I always know. I have no idea how much more I can take of this.” Grissom
approached her with worry and pushed her back onto the stool.
“Just sit for a while ok. You’re going to hurt yourself and the baby if you over
do it. Just relax and I’ll help with the pain.” Grissom ran a hand from her shoulder
to the base of her back and put a little pressure on it as he moved his hand
in small circular patterns.
“Now I can ask the same question.”
“Oh and that would be?”
“Now, how did you know I was in pain?” She giggled and relaxed as his hand continued
its movements.
“Both questions have the same answer…”
“We know each other too well.”
“Exactly. Now stay sat down for a while. Only a few hours left and we can go
home. And,” He retrieved the carton and handed it to her. “This is for you. Catherine
picked it up.” Sara eyed the cartoon and laughed.
“I love rhubarb and custard.”
“I know that. Now take it easy.” He rubbed her lower back one more time and instantly
missed the feel of his hands on her when he headed for the door.
“Alright, just for you.” She grinned as he left her to work on the dead end clothing.
Talking to herself as she ate the rhubarb and custard she came up with an idea. “Maybe
if I hang it over a light board I might be able to see any holes and stains I’ve
missed.” Sara did just that and with the help of a lab technician she found more
evidence.
-
Turning
to Greg as he finished talking about the evidence she found
in the clothing, she yawned. “I’m not that boring am I?” He
looked at her and smiled.
“Sorry Greggo, I’m just so tired. I think I’m gonna lie down for a while. See
you in a while. Oh, Can you give the results to Sam from days, he’s been helping
me out?”
“No problem Sara, you go rest.” Sara patted him on the arm and made her way to
Grissom’s office. It was quieter than the break room. She unlocked it and settled
herself on the couch. Pulling the blanket over her and falling asleep almost
immediately.
Grissom walked in quietly and hour later knowing she was asleep, because Greg
had said she went to lie down and the only quiet place he knew of was his office.
He closed the door gently and sat on the side of his desk watching his wife
sleep.
Her voice made him jump. “Stop staring, I can never sleep if you’re staring
at me.” She said with her eyes still closed.
“Sorry, couldn’t help it.”
“Hmmm…”
“Good work on the Bridges case.” He said moving to sit in his chair whilst still
watching her.
“All it took was you, some rhubarb and custard and the help of light board.” Sara
pulled the blanket higher to her chin still talking with her eyes closed.
“I’m glad I could help.” He chuckled and leaned back in his chair lifting his
feet up onto his desk.
“You find anything helpful on your case?”
“No, hit a wall. The husband was out of town and is probably long gone so it’s
an open case. I handed it off to days.”
“It’ll stay open a bit longer than normal, but it will close.” Grissom sighed
stretching his neck muscles. Sara heard cracking sounds and muffled. “I’d help,
but I can’t move.”
“Well, do you want to go home, or wait a little longer?”
“I think I’ll try and sleep for another hour then head home, what about you?”
“I’ll wait.” Grissom picked up a book and started to read it while he watched
over her sleeping. He laughed when she told him off again.
“You’ll be wearing that book if you keep staring at me.” She warned smiling to
herself and soon drifted off to sleep.
-
“Griss,
I can’t reach the cream.” Sara shouted trying to reach a tub
of cream from the bottom shelf of the fridge, but can’t bend
down to retrieve it. Grissom came out from the nursery covered
in paint once again. Sara laughed at his appearance. “I can’t
believe you, you’ve only been in there ten minutes and you’re
covered.” She stepped back and let him access to the fridge.
“Here you are madam, can I get you anything else?” He grinned at her as she opened
the cream and dipped her finger in it.
Tasting it first before answering. “Actually yes. I need your help with something.”
“Oh and that would be?” Grissom inched closer and dipped a finger in the cream
bringing it to his mouth.
Sara watched him, her eyes wide with mischief. “You see, I have this craving…” She
trailed off as he lifted the cream tub from her hand and closed the short distance
between them.
Looking into her eyes he said. “Really, what sort of craving?” His hands ran
up her arms to her shoulders.
“Well, its sweet, delicious, I can never get enough and I would like some right
now.” She looked at his lips and licked hers in anticipation. He leaned forward
and traced her lips with his tongue.
“Maybe I can help with that craving of yours.” He said against her mouth backing
her against the fridge and leaned into her. Her lips parted inviting him, he
pushed his tongue into her mouth slowly, both relishing in the contact.
Sara found her fingers in his hair while his were slowly undoing her coveralls.
Sara smiled against his lips and he pulled away. She grabbed his hand and led
him to the bedroom. Grissom slowly pulled her coveralls off as he kissed her
gently. Letting them drop to the floor he made his way to her neck, kissing
and tasting her. Sara began to undo the buttons to his own coveralls and once
undone pushed them off his shoulders and pulled them down. She pulled his
T-shirt over his head and nuzzled his neck as he began to move them towards
the bed.
Sara was getting frustrated with the amount of clothing they had on and rested
her head on his shoulder. “We have way too much clothing on.” Grissom chuckled
as he continued to tease her ear. “It’s not funny Griss, I’m tired and we haven’t
done anything yet.”
Grissom stepped back and took a second to think. Sara watched him and when
he came towards her with a grin she got a little worried. “I take it you have
thought of something?” He didn’t answer only assisted her out of her clothing
and helped her onto the bed. He removed his pants and boxers and lay next to
her. He leaned over her and teased her lips with his. “Hmmm…” She moaned as
he kissed her passionately. Grissom let his hands wonder over her body, she
tried to pull him to her, but he pulled back and shook his head with a grin
on his face. She gazed into his eyes and saw what he had in mind. He trailed
kisses down her chin and jaw to her neck. His hand ran over her thigh and squeezed
it as he made his way up her chest. He licked her nipple softly knowing they
were sensitive during and after pregnancy. He kissed each one softly eliciting
many moans from her. He turned her onto her side so his chest was to her back
and nibbled on her ear and planted kisses down the back of her neck. Positioning
himself behind her he held her around her belly gently and slowly entered her.
“Oh Gil…” He moved ever so slowly at first, it was agony for both. She reach
behind and scraped her nails down his side making him groan into her neck as
he sucked on her soft flesh. Moving a little faster as she grabbed his ass and
pulled him to her. Sara’s other hand grasped the sheets as he pushed into her
faster being careful not to hurt her and the baby by holding her too tightly.
“Sara.” He breathed into her hair as he gently caressed her breast in his hand
and thrusting at a steady gently pace.
He glided his hand over her belly feeling the baby; he found her hand and entwined
their fingers as he thrust deeper into her. Squeezing her hand as pleasure
washed over both of them. Sara moaned at the slower than normal pace as did
Grissom. Sounds of moans, groans and cries of ecstasy were heard throughout
the townhouse.
Sara rolled onto her back to see the man she loves and who just made passionate
love to her. Caressing his face he leaned down and kissed her deeply. Needing
to breathe he pulled away and curled himself around her as they welcomed sleep
with one hand covering her stomach while the other was still entwined with
hers.

Sara
got up two hours later with the need to use the toilet. Afterwards
she decided to get something to drink, although she surmised
she’d need the toilet again within minutes of drinking it.
She realised the cream was left out and checked it before placing
back in the fridge. It seemed to be fine for now. Pouring some
apple juice into a glass she made her way to the table and
sat down. She opened the photo album her mother sent them and
turned to a blank page. She opened a box she kept photos in
and rifled through them. Drinking her juice she found some
very nice pictures of Grissom and her after their wedding.
She picked out a nice photo from their honeymoon in Canada,
a photo of them at a theme park and one with the whole team
at a BBQ.
Grissom woke to find the bed missing its other occupant and slowly got up,
throwing on his boxers and his shirt he made his way into the living room where
he walked sleepily other to where his wife was sitting.
“Hey.” He draped his arms around her and kissed her cheek.
“I though you were sleeping?” She covered his hands with hers and sighed looking
down at the photos now strewn across the table.
“I was, but I missed you.” He rest his chin on her shoulder as he leaned down.
She giggled. “Well, I missed you too.” She pulled her eyes away from the pictures
and turned to kiss him in return on the lips. “Come on, let’s go back to bed.” Sara
left the empty glass and photos on the table to clear up later.
Grissom wrapped his arms around Sara as she snuggled against him. They both
slept peacefully before they had to get ready for work.
Grissom woke to feel Sara’s fingers brushing his curls back. She leaned over
and brushed her lips with his briefly. “Evening.”
“Evening. You been up long?” He turned his head to look up at her and smiled.
“Not long.” She continued to finger his hair.
“Have I told you how beautiful you are lately?” Sara ducked her head and blushed.
Grissom always knows when to slip the endearments in and this was one of those
times.
“No I don’t think you have.”
Grissom turned onto his side facing her. “Well then, your beautiful.” He leaned
closer and stole a kiss.
“My husband, the charmer.” She giggled lying on her back.
“I try.” He moved close and leaned over to kiss her belly. “Evening baby.” Sara
chuckled. He looked at her with complete innocence. “What?”
“Nothing, really. Although you won’t have to wait long before you can tell her
yourself, in person.” Grissom smiled and hugged her belly.
“I can’t wait.” She stroked his salt and pepper curls whilst humming a song she
doesn’t know the words to. Grissom listened and closed his eyes.
The darkness outside crept into the lamp lit room. Two bodies still curled
up together waiting for the seconds and minutes to tick by.
“I love hearing you hum songs.” Sara smiled and stroked his cheek.
“I’d sing them, but I don’t know all the words, so I hum instead. It’s soothing.” At
that second the baby kicked and made Grissom jump.
“Woo, that was amazing.”
“For you maybe, but for it hurt like hell for me.” Sara covered her belly and
rubbing where the baby kicked.
“Are you ok?” Grissom moved up to face her, resting on his elbow.
“I’m fine now, but they seemed to hurt more lately.” Sara smiled at him.
“You mean it could be any day now?” Sara nodded and sat up swinging her legs
over the side of the bed.
“Griss can you help me up? I need to get to the toilet.” Grissom crawled over
to her and eased her up carefully. “Thanks honey, I’ll back in a minute.” Grissom
spread himself out on the bed and stretched with a yawn.
Sara came out of the bathroom thinking about her bump. “What’s wrong sweetheart?” Sara
smiled at the endearment and looked at her stomach covered with the large T-shirt
she’s wearing.
“Griss, do you think…I glow?”
Grissom chuckled. “Honey, you’ve been glowing since you found out you were
pregnant.”
“Even at seven months?”
“If not more. C’mere.” Sara sat on the bed still holding her belly. Grissom pulled
her back so her head rests on his stomach. He fingered a strand of hair. “Why’d
you ask?”
“I don’t know, I suppose I love being pregnant. It agrees with me. For some people
it’s different.”
“Your special and so is this baby.” He covered her hand on her belly to emphasise
the last word.
“I love you so much Gil.” Grissom looked at her with concern, knowing what she
was thinking.
“I love you too, but Sara I know what your thinking and you and the baby are
going to be fine.”
“I know.” He lifted her chin for their eyes to lock onto each other’s. Sara sighed
and nodded.
“Do you want Catherine to work with you tonight? I can ask her.”
“No it’s alright, but instead of Catherine can Nick work with me?” Grissom grinned
at her.
“Mmmm…I’m not sure.”
Sara looked at him and saw the grin. “Why not?”
Grissom traced his index finger over her features as he spoke. “Because.”
“Griss?” Sara closed her eyes as he touched her face.
“I don’t like the competition.” Sara’s eyes flew open and she turned on her side
to face him.
“You’re not serious?” Grissom shrugged at her in response, trying his hardest
to keep a straight face. “Gil Grissom it’s not nice to tease a pregnant women,
who also happens to be your wife about such things.”
“Who says I was teasing?” Grissom’s mouth twitched, as she looked mortified.
“Nick is nothing but a brother to me Gil…” She stopped, this time Sara saw his
mouth twitch at the suppressed laughter and decided to reverse rolls. “Now if
you said Greg…” Grissom’s mouth fell open so quick Sara couldn’t help but laugh.
Before he could protest she moved to capture his lips in hers and kissed him
deep and hard. She held his face to hers while she devoured his lips.
“Hmmm…Sara…” Grissom breathed into her mouth. He leaned into her more pressing
her back into the mattress as he moved himself to a more comfortable position.
He settled himself against her side and fondled her breasts softly. “Mmmm…” Just
when it was getting passionate the alarm went off and both groaned at the intrusion. “I
hate technology.” Sara said against his lips.
“Me too.” He broke the kiss and licked his lips. “You’re a great kisser.” Sara
laughed as he stared at her lips.
“So are you.” She brushed her lips against his again, just barely touching, teasing
him.
“Hmmm…I wanna kiss you again.” His closed his eyes at the teasing and moaned.
Sara smiled still brushing against him in a teasing manner. “We have to get
up.”
“I don’t want to.”
“I’ll kiss you if you let Nick work with me?”
“I’m sure that’s blackmail.”
“Do you want to kiss me or not?”
“God yes.” He laughed and leaned closer. Sara licked her lips and at being so
close to his lips she licked them as well. He moaned at the sensation and waited
for her to initiate the kiss. She licked her lips again before pushing her tongue
into his mouth and dancing with his in a secret sensational dance. Pulling away
in need of air they rested their foreheads together while they caught their breath.
-
“Hey
Nick can you pass me the Christopher Columbus? It’s on the
second shelf over there.” Sara pointed behind her.
“Sure…erm Sara?” Nick handed her the piece of equipment and sat next to her.
“Yeah?” Sara used the slightly weighty piece of metal to look at a stain on a
shower curtain that was spread across the lighting table.
“I was wondering if you’ve thought of a name for the baby yet.” Sara grinned,
but continued to work.
“We have.” Nick smiled and looked down at his hands.
“So, you gonna tell me?” He looked back up and noticed she was now looking at
him.
“I’m not telling anyone and don’t ask Griss, because he won’t tell you either.”
“Oh come on, I wanna know.”
“I know you do, but it’s a surprise. Hand me a swab please.” Nick handed the
swab over and watched her work.
-
Catherine,
Warrick and Grissom were out in the garages running an experiment
on car impacts with walls. The car was positioned on a special
kind of treadmill as it came hurtling down the large garage
towards a brick wall and smashed into it.
“That was so cool.” Warrick shout over the noise of the generator for the treadmill.
Turning the treadmill off Grissom turned to Warrick with a huge grin. “I know.
I’ve always wanted to experiment that and see what happens.”
Catherine turned to Warrick and laughed. “He’s having way too much fun with
this case.”
Warrick nodded in agreement. “Yeah, what’s got you in such a good mood Griss?”
Grissom walked over to the crash and crouched down to inspect a piece of debris. “I’m
gonna be a dad soon Warrick, why shouldn’t I be in a good mood? Cath come look
at this.” Warrick and Catherine shared a look and smiled at the man on the
floor.
Walking to him Catherine asked. “What you got?”
“I think we have what killed the victim.”
Catherine was puzzle. “Gil the impact killed the guy.”
Grissom shook his head and turned to her, showing her a nut that had been crushed. “This
killed him.”
Warrick took a closer look. “How come?”
“Doc Robbins said there was a mark on the back of the vics head that he couldn’t
explain and this nut looks exactly like that mark. I’m gonna head down to autopsy
and do a visual match to make sure. See you guys later.” Grissom bagged the nut
and headed towards autopsy leaving Catherine and Warrick in the garage.
“Should we be worried about him?” Warrick said as he took photographs of the
wreckage.
“Nope, he’s just happy.” Catherine filled in the experiment sheet and placed
it in the file.
“Yeah I suppose.”
“What’s up with the questions about Grissom’s happiness all of a sudden Warrick?” Catherine
took the camera from him and took out the film placing it in an evidence bag
and labelling it.
“It’s nothing. I’m worried about them both, that’s all.” Warrick walked around
the experiment taking notes.
“Why?” Catherine looked at him.
“Sara was talking to me the other day and she was worried about the birth.” Warrick
stopped and looked up at Catherine.
“It’s her first of course she’s worried.” Catherine walked over to the table
and placed the camera down.
“Yeah I know, but she’s spoken to the doctor about the birth and everything and
she’s worried about complications.” Warrick wiped the back of his wrist over
his forehead wiping the sweat away, before continuing to take notes.
“I guess when I was having Lindsey I thought the same thing. She’s worried about
Gil?” She asked walking towards him.
“She’s not sure what he’d do if he lost her or the baby or even both. I think
you should talk to her, you know mother to mother-to-be sort of talk?” Warrick
looked up as she walked towards him.
“Yeah.” Catherine looked at her watch. “I’ll take off for break now and go talk
to her.” She leaned up on her toes as he bent down to kiss her.
“Ok see ya in a bit.” Warrick scanned the impact once more and collected other
bits of evidence before getting hold of detail to keep an eye on it till Grissom
gets back about the nut.
-
“Nick
turn that down would ya? It’s too loud.” Nick did as he was
told and instead turned the CD player off.
“What’s up?” Nick asked as he took the CD out.
“The baby doesn’t like it, she won’t stay still.” Nick grinned.
Catherine came through door with a cup of tea in one hand and a coffee in the
other. Nick put the CD back in its case and looked up.
“Hey Cath, you have fun with the car crash experiment?”
“Yeah, not a much as Grissom, you should have seen his face. It was a picture
of happiness.” Catherine handed Sara the tea and sat next to her. “Hey Nick,
could you gives us a minute? I wanna talk to Sara 'bout something.”
Nick grabbed his lab coat and CD. “Sure, I’ll be with Greg if you need me Sara.”
“Thanks Nick.” Nick disappeared and the room went quiet. Sara took a sip of her
tea and looked at Catherine.
“Sara, I’ve been talking to Warrick and he’s worried about you…and Grissom.” Sara
put her tea down and looked back up at her with confusion.
“I don’t understand Catherine.”
“You talked to him about the birth.” Recognition flashed through her eyes and
nodded for her to continue. “Well, he told me that you’re worried about Gil,
if something went wrong during the birth.”
“Yeah.” Sara lowered her head and inspected her shoes whilst Catherine tried
to reassure her.
“When I was having Lindsey I had the same thoughts, but everything turned out
in the end.” Sara lifted her head and Catherine stopped her before she could
sprout of possibilities and figures. “I know about the risks and I sure Gil does
too. Have you spoken to him about it?”
Sara shook her head. “Not directly.”
“Why don’t you ask him?”
“I haven’t mentioned it because I don’t want to upset him, he’s so excited about
the baby and so am I, but I can’t help worrying. I love him too much.”
Catherine smiled. “And that’s why this is going to be one hell of a kid.” Sara
laughed and tried to relax. She had been worrying too much and thought that
maybe she should just let everything flow without the questions. She hadn’t
said anything to Grissom, but she could see that he knew what she was worried
about. He always could.
Catherine looked down at the shower curtain that was separated into several
sections and drank her coffee.
Sara looked at the file and was about to drink her tea when she felt the baby
kick. She put the cup down and braced herself against the table by squeezing
it till her knuckles went white. The baby then did a flip.
“Jesus, if this kid’s so active before she’s born I dread to imagine what she’s
like when brought into this world…God.” Sara leaned against the table taking
in slow deep breaths.
“Sara are you alright?” Catherine placed her hand on Sara’s shoulder.
“Cath…get…Griss please.” Sara said between breaths.
Catherine left room in a hurry she bumped into Nick coming out the break room. “Nick
get Griss quick.”
Nick saw the panicked look in her face. “Why what’s wrong?”
Catherine physically turned him around and pushed him into walking. “Get Griss,
he’s in autopsy. Sara’s having the baby.” At that Nick ran down the corridor
and disappeared around the corner.
Catherine went back to Sara who had sat on the floor and was taking deep breaths.
She took her hand in hers and rubbed her back. “It’s ok Sara, he’s on his way.
Just keep breathing like that. That’s it.”
-
Doc
Robbins and Grissom were matching the nut to the back of the
vics skull and comparing it with the X-rays taken when Nick
came charging in.
“Griss…come…quick…Sara…baby…having…now…” he said trying to catch his breath then
headed back out the door and ran towards the exit to get the car ready.
Grissom ran out the room and was turning the corner when he saw a crowd of
people swarmed around one of the layout rooms. He caught his breath as he made
his way towards the door at a quick pace. Upon entering the room he saw Sara
sat on the floor using the lamas breathing techniques she’d learnt.
“Ok, Catherine get her bag from the locker room and take it out to the car, Nick
knows the routine and he should be outside in a panicked mess awaiting us.” Grissom
knelt down next to Sara and took her hand as Catherine left. “Hey honey, ready?
I’m going to help you up.” Sara nodded and pushed up off the floor with Grissom’s
help.
Warrick came rushing down the corridor and grabbed Sara’s other arm and help
Grissom guide her out to the car. Once in the car Nick drove with the blue
lights on towards the hospital.
“Has the hospital been informed, Nick?” Grissom shouted from the back seat, cradling
Sara as she keeps going with the lamas.
“Yep, they’ll be waiting outside with a chair.” Nick turned a corner sharper
than he intended. “Sorry guys.”
“Try and get us there alive Nicky.” Sara growled at him. Nick looked at Grissom
through the rear view mirror. Grissom just smirked and Nick grinned.
“It’ll get worse believe me Gil.” Grissom looked down at his wife and actually
looked scared. Sara smiled knowing his reaction.
-
She
was sitting on one of those uncomfortable hospital beds waiting
for the doctor to say ‘she’s fully dilated’ Sara was becoming
very bad tempered and Grissom was taking the full blow of the
verbal garbage that came out. Grissom new she didn’t mean it
and tried to stay calm, but his hand was beginning to hurt
with he constant squeezing.
“God! Someone. Please. Get. This. Kid. Out!” Sara shouted to no one as she threw
her head back.
“Not long now Sara.” Grissom tried his very best to talk and calm her down, but
the pain in his hand was getting too painful.
“Not
Long!? Not Long!!? Griss! I’ve been waiting over an hour! This
kids’ coming now! Like it or not!”
Grissom
chuckled temporarily ignoring the pain and then wincing as
she squeezed again.
Sara noticed his pain and would stop, but it hurt too much. In a quieter voice
she said. “I’m sorry Gil, I’d squeeze a melon if I could…”
Grissom wiped her brow to stop her. “It’s alright.” He said softly in her ear.
She seemed to calm down as she locked eyes with him and smiled. He whispered
into her ear. “I love you.” Sara closed her eyes as he kissed her cheek.
“I know, me too.” The contractions started again and she tried to squeeze the
mattress more than Grissom’s hand.
The doctor can in and checked on her dilation. “Well then, it’s time. Shall
we get started.”
“You’re giving me a choice!? Jesus…” The doctor smiled and Grissom chuckled as
he placed his hand on her forehead. She looked into her husband’s eyes as the
doctor spoke.
“Ok, I want you to push when I tell you.” The doctor positioned himself at the
end of the bed ready for the birth to begin.
-
Nick
was on the pay phone listening to the caller in one-ear and
Sara’s screams in the other. “God, can’t they give her something
for the pain?”
Catherine was on the other end trying to calm Nick down. “It’s ok Nicky, just
hang in there. I wish I could be there, but someone needs to hold the fort.
How’s she sound?” Before Nick could answer Sara answered with another scream. “Don’t
worry I heard. She sounds fine.”
“WHAT, That’s fine?”
Catherine laughed. “Yeah, you wanna worry when she starts calling men all sort
of obscenities.”
“I think you missed that.” Nick laughed and turned towards the room that they
were in. “Erm…Cath it’s just gone all quiet. Can I panic now?”
“Don’t panic, If it’s quiet just wait until someone comes out ok?”
“Thanks Cath, I’ll ring when I know more.”
“Ok Nicky and stay calm.”
“I’ll try, bye.”
“Bye.”
Nick was hanging up when a nurse came out the room. “Excuse me, can you tell
me what’s going on?” The nurse looked at him and smiled shyly.
Nick smiled back. “If you wait a minute someone will be out.”
“Thanks.” Nick sat down and waited patiently.
-
“Congratulation’s
Mr and Mrs. Grissom it’s a girl, a healthy baby girl.” The
doctor lifted the baby up for them to see.
Grissom wrapped his arm around Sara and kissed her. “She’s gorgeous.” Cooed
Sara.
“I’m just getting the nurse to wrap her in a blanket and then you can hold her.” The
doctor passed the baby to the nurse.
“I’m gonna tell Nick, ok? I’ll be right back.” Grissom cupped Sara’s cheek. “You
did real good.” Sara smiled and nodded for him to go.
Nick was sitting with his head in his hands when Grissom came out in his green
robe and hat, all the normal protective stuff a father-to-be is told to wear.
Nick lifted his head to see Grissom walking towards him. Nick stood waiting
for the news. Grissom looked happy, actually overjoyed would probably be the
best word to describe it. Nick took that as a good sign and put on his best
Texan smiled. “How’s Sara?”
Grissom stopped in front of him and smiled. “She’s great, their both great.
The nurses and doctors are checking her out and Sara’s great.”
“You means it’s a girl?” Grissom nodded and Nick laughed. He shook his hand then
started digging around in his pocket looking for something.
“What you looking for?” Grissom said looking at him as he frantically tried to
find something.
“Money for the phone, I got some here somewhere, God.” Grissom laughed and pulled
out some change for him.
“Here, go call the rest of the gang.” Nick walked towards the phones, but he
stopped when Grissom called to him.
“Yeah?”
“Sara and I wanted you to be the first to know…”
“What’s that?”
“The babies name, Isabelle.” Grissom headed back into the hospital room. Nick
grinned as he turned back towards the phone, muttering under his breath.
“Isabelle, I love it and I knew before Catherine, even better. Ha. This is so
cool.” As he dialled the number the nurse’s came out the room and Nick couldn’t
hold it in any longer. They all turned to look at him as he shouted down the
phone to Catherine. “It’s a girl!” Nick turned to the sound of laughter as a
few nurses walked down the hallway and he went red with embarrassment.
-
Sara
was told to rest and that’s what she intended to do as soon
as Grissom got back from telling Nick the good news.
Grissom came through the door and stopped in his tracks at the site of Sara
holding their baby daughter. She looked up at him and nodded for him to come
closer. He obeyed and sat on the edge of the bed. He reached out a hand hesitantly
to stroke his daughter’s head as he leaned his on Sara’s shoulder. The baby
was wrapped in a yellow baby blanket and only her head and an arm could be
seen. You can see the dark brown hair and the blue eyes as she suckled on her
fingers.
The nurse who left earlier came back with a form and handed it to Grissom. “Can
you filled this in, Please? It won’t take a few minutes.” Grissom agreed, took
the form and looked at it before filling it in. He handed it back and the nurse
thanked him and left.
Sara stroked her daughter’s hair and said. “What was that?”
Grissom positioned himself so he could lay next to her and still be able to
interact with his daughter. “The birth forms. You need your rest, the guys
will be here after shift.”
“Ok, you should get some rest too.” Grissom nodded as Sara shuffled down and
pulled the baby towards her. “Gil you want to take her while I sleep for I a
while?” Grissom looked at Sara and smiled.
“Yeah, Can I show her Nick?” Sara nodded sleepily as Grissom gently lifted the
baby into his arms. Once comfortable he went to show Nick.
Nick was still on the phone and said to the others down the line before hanging
up. “Gotta go, My niece is wanting to meet me.” Nick met Grissom half way and
smiled at the little bundle. “God she’s so small.”
“I know, you want to hold her?” Grissom offered his daughter and Nick grinned
with a nod. Nick took her into his arms and pulled down the blanket to get a
good look at her face. Grissom watched with a huge grin on his face.
Nick started to talk to her very quietly. “Hey Isabelle, I’m your Uncle Nick.” Nick
fingered her hair and looked at Grissom.
“I know she’s got her mothers hair…and my eyes.” Nick smiled widely at Grissom’s
out of character-ness.
“Let’s hope you don’t have your mothers mouth.” Nick said to Isabelle.
Grissom chuckled. “You heard huh?”
Nick laughed and nodded. “Only everything. I didn’t know she felt that way
about men.”
“I didn’t know she could swear so bad.” Grissom wanted to hold his daughter again
and motioned for Nick to give her back, but Nick was reluctant. “Nick, please
give my daughter back.”
“I was getting comfortable.” Nick gave in and passed her to her father.
Grissom thought about a conversation between Sara and him a while back and
suggested. “Well, Nicky you know, you have responsibilities now.” Nick looked
at him confused. “Now that you are an Uncle you have automatically been put
on the babysitting list, so that means you get to look after your niece when
Sara and me go out.” Grissom chuckled and took his daughter back to her mother.
Nick stood there with a huge grin on his face .
-
Grissom
had made himself comfortable on cot that a nurse managed to
get for him. He got some sleep, but four hours later Isabelle
stared crying and woke everyone up. The nurse came in as Grissom
sat up. Sara stirred and looked towards the nurse who was changing
Isabelle. The nurse noticed both parents had woken and turned
to them with the baby in her arms.
“Sorry, but when they cry they either need changing, feeding or attention and
she needed to be changed.” Sara sat up and yawned while Grissom walked over to
the nurse and took Isabelle from her. The nurse left after giving Sara the once
over and the suggestion to feed Isabelle soon so she can rest more.
Sara observed her husband cradling their daughter in his arms as he stood looking
out hospital room window. He turned and noticed Sara watching him. He smiled
and walked to her. Perching on the bed her passed Isabelle to her and leaned
over brushing his lips with hers before pulling back and kissing his daughter.
“Morning baby.” Grissom beamed as he looked into Sara’s eyes.
“I told you you’d be able to tell her in person soon.” Sara undid her gown and
for the first time breasts feeds her child.
“You did.” Grissom sat back and studied his growing family. He checked his watch
and stood. He washed his face in the small bathroom in the private room and got
a fresh shirt out of Sara’s overnight bag.
Sara continued to feed Isabelle as she watched over both her husband and her
daughter. Grissom changed and put the cot away.
“You get enough sleep, honey?” Sara asked stifling a yawn as she covered herself
and pulled Isabelle up to rub her back slowly and softly.
“A little.” Sara nodded with another yawn. “You look like you need some more.
I’ll take Isabelle for a while, while you sleep some more. I’ll wake you when
the gang get here.” Sara closed her eyes after she saw him resting in the soft
chair in the corner embracing their baby as he kissed her forehead.
No one heard a soft knock on the door and only when light from the hallway
encased the dim room did Grissom see Catherine, Warrick and Nick enter quietly.
“Hey guys.” Catherine said walking over to Grissom and taking the baby.
Grissom gently shook Sara to wake her. He bent down and whispered into her
ear. “Sweetheart; Catherine, Warrick and Nicky are here.”
She mumbled and brought her hands up to rub her eyes from sleep. Grissom helped
her groggy form sit up. He sat slightly behind her and she leaned back into
him watching Isabelle be passed from one person to the other.
“Careful she might get sick with all the movement.” Sara said as she leaned for
the glass of water on the bedside unit. Not being able to get reach it Grissom
handed it to her as he kissed her neck. “Was she alright while I slept?” Grissom
nodded and was about to answer in more detail when Catherine asked with amusement.
“You let him look after a baby without supervision?” Nick and Warrick laughed.
“I don’t need supervision Catherine, I’m quite capable of looking after my daughter.” Grissom
said in his own defence.
Warrick held Isabelle more carefully than the others. Sara noticed. “She won’t
break Warrick.” Warrick grinned and held her a little tighter.
-
Six
Months later, Warrick came running in out of the downpour and
shook his head sending droplets flying.
“Warrick you’re late.” Grissom shouted down the corridor, watching the tall man
shake his coat while making his way towards the angry, tired looking older man.
“Yeah sorry Griss, traffic and the damn rain.” Warrick headed to the locker room
to change into some clean dry clothes before heading towards the break room.
“Nick could you grab me a coffee?” Catherine asked quietly as she held Isabelle.
“Where’s Sara?” Nick poured a coffee and handed it to Catherine who was sat on
the couch.
“She popped down to autopsy to collect a report and some X-rays.” Catherine drank
her coffee as Isabelle sucked quietly on her dummy.
Grissom walked into the room, anger written all over his face. He headed straight
for the coffee and poured himself a cup. He turned to see Catherine sitting
on the couch and walked towards her perching on the small table in front of
her. His anger quickly fleeing. “She all right?” Grissom drank some coffee
and put it down.
“She’s been quiet.” Catherine leaned forward for Grissom to take Isabelle.
Grissom looked up at the room clock then back at Isabelle. “She needs to go
down for her nap.” He said brushing her curls off her face. “I’ll be back to
give out assignments.” Grissom got up and walked towards his office. He bumped
into Sara on his way round the corner.
“Hey honey, sorry bout that.” Sara looked at the bundle in his arms and smiled. “Hello
my little girl.” She said bending down to kiss her daughter. “I got her bottle
ready if you wanna feed her?” Sara followed him into his office and watched as
he sat in his chair. Sara pulled out the bottle of milk from her jacket pocket
and handed it to him. Grissom pulled the dummy out and replaced it with the bottle.
“Thanks hon. you couldn’t give those to Catherine could you?” He motioned to
the assignments.
“I can, but I’ll be back before you put her down ok?” Grissom smiled and nodded.
Sara grabbed the assignments and left.
“Your mother is mad you know that?” Grissom held the bottle as Isabelle grasped
it while she drank the warm milk.
-
“Here
Catherine, Griss asked if you could give these out for him,
he’s a bit occupied at the minute.” Sara grinned at the last
bit.
“Ok, Sara you staying?” Catherine handed Warrick and Nick an assignment each
and was wondering if Sara would be staying long.
“No sorry, I’m still on my week vacation. I should be back in a few days though.
I’ve got to get the house sorted and more night coverage for Isabelle.”
“Nightmare.” Catherine stated understanding.
“You’re telling me. Well, I’ll see you later.” Sara went back to Grissom’s office
and couldn’t help but observe her husband and daughter.
Over the passed several months they’ve grown inseparable. He gets up in the
night or day when Sara’s too tired to and feeds, even changes her. You would
have thought he’d be a little wary of changing a baby’s nappy, but not Gil
Grissom. He gets stuck into it. She’s found him on a few occasions asleep on
the couch holding Isabelle close to him.
“She ready?” Sara asked approaching them. Grissom nodded and lifted Isabelle
gently to her mother. Sara laid her down in the pram and covered her with the
blanket.
Grissom came up behind Sara and wrapped his arms around her waist. She leaned
back into his chest and covered his hands with hers as she looked down on their
daughter. Grissom kissed her bare neck, trailing his tongue round to her ear
and pulling it into his mouth. Sara’s head fell back onto his shoulder allowing
him more access. Grissom reached behind him and closed the door quietly not
wanting to wake Isabelle and not wanting the moment broken with interruptions
from the outside. The blinds were already closed so no one could look in.
Sara moaned quietly as she turned in his arms and captured his lips with hers.
She kissed him deeply, holding him to her as she clutched his curls. Grissom
ran his hands over her back and under the tank top she was wearing. Scraping
her skin as he held her to him tighter. She lowered one hand to the waistband
of his pants and pulled him against her, grinding into him, he groaned into
her mouth as he pressed her against the door. Sara raised her left leg wrapping
it around his thigh, pulling him closer, feeling him.
They broke the kiss breathlessly, staring into each other’s eyes as their hearts
slowly returned to normal rhythm. Grissom leaned his forehead to rest on hers
and closing his eyes as he spoke. “God how I would love to pin you against
a wall right now and not worry about other people.”
Sara giggled at his desire and thought about a way to remedy the situation. “I
think we should get someone to baby-sit for the morning, I’m suffering with-drawl.” She
said still catching her breath.
Grissom chuckled and kissed her softly. “I’ll ask Nick.” He said before he
kissed her again a bit longer this time.
“Mmmm…Gil…”
“I know…I’ll stop…” He deepened the kiss and leaned into her as she giggled against
his mouth, sending a strange tickling vibration through his lips. “Hmmm…I like
that…OK…ok…I’m stopping. I am…” He pulled away, running his hands down her arms
as he took a step back.
“I’m addicted as much as you.” She said with a grin spreading to her eyes.
He shook his head as he smiled. “Impossible.”
“Oh Really? Well I’ll teach you a thing or two about addiction to kissing when
you get home.” She took a step towards him and playfully ran her hand down past
his chest and grinned evilly as he closed his eyes and gasped as she took a hold
of him.
“Oh yes please…” Grissom managed to squeak out.
-
“Hey
Nick can you baby sit this morning?” Grissom leaned against
the layout room doorframe waiting for Nick to answer. He was
sifting through several fabric laundry bags from the case he
and Warrick were working. A maid and laundry man were killed
in the basement and stuffed into the bags. They had to comb
through about 12 bags of dirty laundry to collect any evidence.
Nick looked up with a grin and nodded. “Sure can. I have wanted to show my
niece some country music.”
Grissom looked momentarily worried. “You are going to make my daughter listen
to that stuff?” Grissom shook his head. “No way.”
Nick laughed. “Hey she likes it.”
“What do you mean she ‘likes’ it?” Grissom pushed off the doorframe and walked
towards him.
Nick took two steps back and grinned cautiously. “Um Well, the last time I
baby sat, she was restless...I put on my music and it lulled her to sleep.” Grissom
was unsure how to proceed. He wasn’t sure if his daughter should be listening
to anything Nick, Warrick or Greg listens to; afraid she might…well he’s not
sure why…it’s scary…Well, look at Greg…he head bags. Warrick, actually I’m
not sure what he listens to, but it’s too beaty and Nick…it’s too scary to
think of.
“Grissom.” Catherine saw the exchange and thought she should intercept them,
seeing as Grissom was getting very close to Nick.
Grissom turned slowly. “Oh hey Cath, Just in time to witness a murder.” He
turned back to Nick, who gulped loudly and looked at Catherine with pleading
eyes.
“Please help.” Nick was about to be trapped between a tall shelf and Grissom.
Catherine entered the room and placed her hand on Grissom’s arm, shaking her
head. “Gil?”
Grissom didn’t turn, but answered still staring down Nick. “Yeah?”
“You can’t, not here.”
Grissom sighed. “You’re right too many people.” Looking Nick one more time
in the eyes, he turned and left.
Catherine laughed and patted Nick on the shoulder. “You trying to get yourself
killed? Never admit to what you allow someone’s daughter to hear, especially
Country music, jeez Nick that was close.”
“I know, thanks. Maybe I should change my music collection altogether. I wonder
if Izzy likes trance.” Nick went back to work.
“Again don’t tell him.” Catherine shook her head at him and left.
Grissom listens to classic, blues, various up dated bands and Plink Floyd.
If you don’t really want hard rock, country, rapping children when they hit
their teens it’s best to not introduce it when young. It’s only a thought,
but it might happen.
-
There
was an energetic knock on his office door. “Come in.”
Warrick popped his head in the door, but did not enter. “Hey boss.”
“Hey Warrick, you get anywhere on that hotel case?” Grissom opened a jar and
pulled out a squirming bug and dropped it into the spider tank.
“Not yet, still combing the bags. Erm…Nick asked if after breakfast was ok.” Grissom
turned and grinned. Warrick shook his head. “You scared him into changing his
taste in music.”
“Good. Tell him after breakfast is great.” Grissom went back to his spider and
tapped the glass. “Told you’d it work.”
Warrick laughed and went on his way. “Cruel.” He muttered closing the door
after him.
-
The
house was cleaner than when he left last night. The kitchen
was spotless. The living room was sparkling, from being dusted
and polished. The whole house smelt like fresh air.
Grissom hung his coat up and put his case in the closet. He dropped his keys
on the kitchen unit and put his gun and ID in the draw by the door. He listened
carefully trying to hear where Sara might be, but it was too quiet. He walked
towards the bedroom, but she wasn’t there. The nursery was also empty, he was
about to look outside when he heard humming coming from the bathroom. He opened
the door slightly and saw Sara and Isabelle taking a shower. Isabelle was resting
her head on Sara’s shoulder while she hummed to her. The water slowly cascaded
down them both, washing away the soap. Grissom closed the door quietly, he
went to turn the coffee pot on and read the paper.
Sara came out of the bathroom wrapped in a large towel and Isabelle in a smaller
towel. Sara laid Isabelle on the bed and dried her. She put a clean nappy on
her and dressed her in her bedtime baby grow. Sara carried her towards the
living room and laid her down in the travel cot and covered her with her snugly.
As soon as she was down her eyes instantly began to droop. Sara still hummed
as she watched her fall asleep.
Grissom watched from the kitchen, he was leaning against the counter reading
the paper when Sara walked into the living room. He smiled as Sara looked up
at him and she smiled back. She walked to him still dressed in only a towel.
Sara stood in front of him as he stood up straight and put his hands on her
waist. She leaned froward and he mimicked her. Grissom captured her lips in
his and pulled her towards him. He turned them so she was now against the kitchen
counter. Breaking the kiss Sara fingered his curls as he leans into her body.
“Morning.” She said as she kissed his nose.
“Morning…” He said as he kissed her chin. “…Nick will be here in about three
hours.” She grinned at his inclination.
His hand slipped inside the towel to touch her freshly washed skin. His fingers
scrapped her sensitive flesh as he kissed her deeply. The towel dropped into
a bundle at their feet. Sara started to unbutton his shirt while his hands
roamed her back keeping her warm with his body. She broke the kiss and gently
teased his neck as she worked on his pants. Grissom lifted her onto the counter
pushing the paper to the floor. Grissom pulled away with a grin and lifting
her into his arms as he carried her to the bedroom.
He laid her down without breaking the kiss initiated at the door. He lay half
on, half off her letting his hands caress her skin. Sara started pulling his
already open pants off as she turned them. She pinned him to the bed as she
slowly kissed his chest, running her hands down his sides making him squirm
from the tickling sensation. Smiling against his skin as she teasingly rocked
back and forth on his mid-section. He pulled her up to kiss her passionately
as she ground into him slowly, “Hmmm” he groaned into her mouth. “Sara.” He
whispered her name against her lips as she guided him into her.
When the rhythm was found, Sara steadied herself on his chest while he gripped
the sheets. She leaned down to kiss him as he brought his hands to hers and
took them, entwining together as the speed increased. Sara ran her tongue along
his jaw to his neck. Grissom pushed his head into the mattress as his wife
did her way with him in anyway she wanted. Their hands clenched tightly as
he aids her. The thrusts were deep and powerful. She began to tire; Grissom
kissed her softly as he pushed her onto her back still moving into her. Once
settled in the new position the rhythm began again at a faster pace as he thrust
into her.
Sara’s load moans were muffled as she buried her head into his shoulder. “Oh
God Gil…” Her head fell back against the bed as he slowed. Teasing her ear
and neck with his tongue before plunging it into her mouth where she welcomed
him.
They both lay next to each other breathing heavily. Grissom turned onto his
side, as Sara lay limp on her back unable to move. He reached out a hand and
brushed her face free of her hair and leaned down to kiss her slowly, gently.
Pulling away he ran his hand down the side of her face and cupped her cheek.
He moved his lips to her ear and whispered. “I love you.” He kissed her ear
and pulled back to see her eyes with a smile stretching widely across his face.
Sara wrapped a curl around her finger and smiled up at him. ‘He looks so cute’. “I
love you too.” She lifted her head to brush her lips against his briefly.
They wrapped their arms around each other and just held one and other for a
while before they needed to move.
They both showered and got ready to go out. All they needed to do was wait
for Nick. “He’s not late Gil.” Sara said watching him as he looks out the front
window. Sara was making up some fresh bottles to put in the fridge for Isabelle
and got some food out for Nick so he can munch on something while they were
out.
Grissom walked towards the travel cot and peered over the top to see Isabelle
still sleeping soundly. He pulled her snugly up were she had kicked it off
in her sleep to cover her. He looked at her for a few minutes before gently
stroking her soft hair. He sighed.
Sara noticed him looking in on Isabelle and wondered what was going through
his head. He walked into the kitchen and leaned against the fridge door. Sara
put the lids on the last of the bottles and turned to him. “What’s wrong?” She
said as she got closer to him.
“I was just thinking.” Grissom pulled her into a tight hug, which she returned.
Still holding her against him he spoke softy into her ear. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too…Gil, I want you to know…that whatever it is your worrying about…we’ll
get through it, ok?” She pulled back a little to see his face. He nodded as he
kissed her tenderly on the lips.
“I want to talk to you, but it can wait till later.” He said pulling her back
into a tight embrace.
Sara rests her head on his shoulder with her eyes closed. “Ok…later.”
Three knocks on the door startled them both. Sara went to answer the door,
while Grissom grabbed his and Sara’s coat.
“Hey Nick, we were wondering where you were.” She hugged him and put her coat
on with Grissom’s help.
“Sorry guys. The hotel case was driving Warrick and me crazy. Those laundry bags
stank. I had to shower.” Nick dropped his stuff on the kitchen counter and walked
into the living to sit down.
“That’s ok, you’re here now. There is some food in the fridge for you and Isabelle’s
bottles are also in there. You remember how to warm them up.” Nick nodded as
his head fell back against the couch. “Alright. She’s asleep now, wont wake up
for.” Sara lifted Grissom’s wrist and looked at his watch. “Hour and half maybe
longer. She was really tired so let her sleep.” She lowered her hand to Grissom’s
and held it. He wrapped his fingers around hers and began to pull her out the
door. Sara picked up her rucksack from by the door and slung it over her shoulder.
“No country, Nick.” Grissom warned as he closed the door.
Once Nick was alone, he fell asleep.
-
It
had been a while since either of them had drove out to the
desert. The familiar place they always go, to just talk. The
sun was high in the Nevada sky as the heat bounced off the
dry ground back up into the air.
Seventeen minutes later the Tahoe stopped. Sara climbed out at the same time
as Grissom. Grissom had the rucksack in his hand when Sara came round the car
and grabbed his hand. “Come on Griss.”
Grissom laughed at her eagerness. “I’m coming.” She let his hand go and he
wrapped it around her waist. Holding her close as they walked out into the
desert towards a bunch of trees and other greenery. Grissom pulled out the
blanket from the rucksack and spread it out on the floor. He lay on his back
while Sara snuggled up to him with her arms wrapped around his waist. Grissom
ran his hand slowly up and down her back. They stayed like that for a long
time, just watching the clouds drift with the slow breeze.
Sara thought that maybe Grissom would tell her what was worrying him earlier,
but he seemed content in just lying here holding her close to him. She didn’t
mind, but was worried. He sensed it and wondered how he was going to tell her.
He thought he had to try. “Sara?”
Neither moved. “Yeah?”
“I need to tell you something, but I’m not sure how.”
Sara just hugged him to let him know it was all right. “You can tell me anything
Gil, you know that.”
“I know, but…remember my surgery?” Sara turned her head to look at him. “Well…um…my…er…”
“Gil, it’s ok.” Sara gently stroked his cheek with her thumb while her hand lay
flat against his face. Grissom turned his head and kissed her hand, taking it
in his and holding it to his heart.
“The surgery worked, remember?” Sara nodded. “But, a few weeks ago my right ear
phased out and I couldn’t hear.” Sara closed her eyes and turned onto her side,
resting her forehead against his. “I went to the doctors and they said they can’t
do anything. My left ear is working fine though. It’s just…. erm…I’m sorry Sara…”
Sara lifted her head shaking it. “There’s nothing to be sorry about Gil…so
what if the surgery didn’t work for long…it’s not the end of the world.” Grissom
turned his head to look out to the desert. Sara squeezed his hand still in
hers on his chest to get his attention. He looked at her and tried to smile,
but it was a sad smile.
“I don’t know what to do, Sara.” A tear escaped and ran down to his ear. Sara
wiped his face and ran her fingers over his left ear. He closed his eyes. “What
if the treatment doesn’t work for Isabelle? I don’t know what that would do to
me.” Sara’s eyes started to water, but she tried to blink back the tears, trying
to stay strong for both of them.
“Hey…” Sara rested her hand on his neck and lay her head on his chest. “We’ll
talk to the doctors…I knew just as much as you about the probability for Otosclerosis
to be passed onto any children we had and that the possibility if we had a girl,
the chances would be more likely of her being deaf, but Griss.” Sara lifted her
head to look at him. He stared back re-wrapping his arms around her and pulling
her on top of him. She now lay stretched out over his body. “She can hear. You
have evidence of that.”
Grissom furrowed his eyebrows in thought. “Evidence?”
Sara nodded with a smile. “Nick.”
Grissom laughed in realisation. “His country music.” Sara leaned down to kiss
his cheek and pulled back. “He said his music lulled her to sleep when she
was restless the last time he looked after her.”
“See, if she couldn’t hear, how could that possibly work? Besides she’s been
responsive to sound since before she was born. My humming, your voice and your
music, even mine. She’s had her jabs and has been seen by Doctor Peters on more
than one occasion. He’s a great doctor Griss, he’s know how special she was to
us before he showed us for the first time on the monitor at the hospital.” Grissom
thought about all the things she said and absorbed them quickly and turned them
so he was laying partially on her and smiled.
Sara smiled up at him as she saw the information sink in. “Thank you.” He kissed
her slowly, before kissing her deeply he pulled back with a sudden thought
and serious face.
“What?” Sara asked lightly, amused at the change.
He grinned. “Maybe I’ll let her listen to country music after all.” Sara started
to laugh. He captured her lips with his in mid-laugh.
-
Five
months later, A skeleton was discovered in an old quarry. Bugs
had been collected and Grissom was putting the time of death
together. Sara and Nick were with the skeleton in one of the
autopsy labs. Warrick and Catherine were background searching.
Checking information about the quarry and what type it was
and trying to find out if there were any witnesses. Catherine
was getting frustrated in not being able to find anything on
the quarry or from the one witness they had. It was a dead
end for background research so she went in search to inform
Grissom of her findings, or lack of.
Grissom was sat at his bug worktable on one side of his office. He was busy
measuring the few bugs collected and recording everything about them into a
record form for the case file. Catherine knocked on the door and got no answer.
She knocked again, but still there was no answer. She looked through the window
and saw him working at the table with his back to the door. She tried the door,
but it was locked. She tapped on the window, but nothing.
“Great.” Catherine had no clue what was going on and went to find Sara; maybe
she could do someone. It’s not like Grissom to ignore a knock on his door. Sara
and Nick were looking through slides trying to determine how old this person
was. Catherine pushed through the door practically pissed off. When she spoke
both Sara and Nick jumped. “Sara?”
“Jesus Catherine.” Nick clutched his heart, taking deep breaths.
Sara turned around and saw the concern. “What’s wrong?”
“What’s up with your husband? He is not answering his office door, it’s locked
and when I tapped on the window still no answer.”
Sara knew what was going on, but no one else knew so stayed calm. “It’s ok
Cath, Did you want something and I’ll have a go. He’s probably thinking again.” Sara
got up and followed her out the door. “Nick keeping looking at those slides
would ya?”
“Sure thing Sara.” Nick shouted to her as the doors swung shut.
“What’s he doing?” Sara asked as they approached his office.
“He’s at his bug table.” Catherine stopped at his door and turned to Sara. “Just
ask him if Warrick and me can widen the search a bit and start building missing
persons database, you never know.”
“Sure, I’ll see you later.” Catherine walked off and Sara pulled out her phone
and paged him.
-
Grissom
was pinning a bug to the board and was then writing something
down when he saw his pager fly across the table. He caught
it before it got to the edge of the table. He looked at it.
Please open the door. Sara
Grissom looked back at the door and walked to open it. “Griss you shouldn’t
lock your door. Cath was worried.” Sara followed Grissom back into his office
shutting the door after her. He sat back down at his bug table, but turn his
chair to look at her.
“I’m sorry.” He was looking at the floor. Sara approached him and lifted his
chin.
“Stop worrying for at least a minute and listen to me ok?” Sara was going to
get him to listen if it was the last thing in the world.
“Ok.”
“Gil, your hearing may not be like it use to be, but you still have one good
ear and the doctor said it’s not wavering like your right. Now listen to me very
carefully when I say this ok?” Sara lowered her hands to his thighs and squeezed
them.
Grissom placed his hands over hers and held them. “I’m listening.”
“I love you, Isabelle loves you, we all love you and what ever happens that’s
not going to change. Finally, do not ever lock your office door again, do you
understand me?” Although she was serious with every word she smiled at the last
bit, trying to tell him she’s not mad at him, just concerned.
“I love you too and the door will stay unlocked, promise.” He smiled and pulled
her towards him. He wrapped his arms around her waist while Sara wrapped hers
around his neck. She leaned down and kissed him slowly, enjoying the moment.
The kiss lasted a few minutes, neither rushing it just enjoying the peacefulness.
Sara pulled back and relayed Catherine’s request. Grissom agreed. “You ring
them for me and also, how’s the bones coming?”
Still holding each other she answered while playing with his curls. “I think
we need some help. I can’t get an age from the bones. It’s been more than picked
clean. You get anything yet with the ‘multi-legged creatures’?” She grinned
knowing he knows she’s just teasing. He laughed, but shook his head.
“No, sadly not a thing. My friends here are confused. There seems to have been
contamination of the bones before they were found. Ask Catherine if she can add
surrounding states missing persons as well to the database. I know it’ll take
longer, but I think we need to expand the search a little.” Sara nodded while
she brushed the back of her hand down his cheek. “Also I think we should get
Terri Miller down here…”
Sara knew were he was coming from and finished for him. “…We can’t do anything
else until the skeleton is ID’d. You want me to ring?” Sara asked knowing his
ear was playing up. He could ring using his good ear, but the one sided concentration
would give him a migraine. Grissom knew she was looking out for him and grin
and her protectiveness.
“I would like that and thank you. I don’t exactly want a migraine while waiting
for the case to crack open.” Sara smiled and pulled him to her, embracing him
tightly.
“I can’t believe I care about you this much to ring people up and talk to them,
me. I must be coming down with something.” He chuckled and kissed her cheek.
“You love me too much.”
“I do. I’ll go make the phone calls. I will see later ok?” Grissom released her
and watched her walked out the door. He turned back to his work.
-
Nick
was with Greg when Grissom came in the DNA lab for something. “Hey
Griss, you need something?” Nick said looking up from a CD
he was reading.
“Actually yes. I want you two to get out to the crime scene and do some scouting
around and see if we missed anything.” Griss walked over to the DNA fridge and
looked for the results to one of the bug’s insides.
Nick looked at Greg and Greg looked at Grissom. “Grissom you want me out in
the field?” Grissom turned from the fridge with his findings and walked towards
them.
“Yeah, something wrong?” He observed as Nick and Greg exchanged looks, he sighed. “I
know, I’m staying here to work on the bugs and skeleton so I need you two out
there. Greg I know you’ve only been out with me a half dozen times, but Nick
can take my place for the time being, so don’t worry.” Nick beamed at him then
turned to Greg.
“Come on Greggo let’s get going.” Nick walked out leaving Greg in a complete
daze. Grissom patted him on the back and also left.
-
Grissom’s
phone rang and he answered it not stopping from pinning another
few bugs to the board in front of him. “Grissom.”
“Hey honey.”
“Hey, you all right?” Grissom asked, she sounded exhausted. He adjusted the phone
and held it between his shoulder and cheek while he worked.
“Just tired. Gil I need to ask you something on the record ok?”
“Shoot hon.” Grissom wrote down some numbers on the file form after measuring
a small bug.
“The baby sitter called and she’s had a family emergency so now ‘we’ have a family
emergency and Isabelle is on her way here.”
“That’s ok sweetheart. I can look after her for a few hours. I’m not that busy
anyway. How’s she getting here, Cab?” He heard laughter down the phone and he
chuckled.
“You know, you can actually be funny at times.”
“It’s rare, but sometimes it just happens. I’ll be down soon. You still in autopsy?”
“Nope, thought I’d have a break so I’m with Archie having a coffee. You want
me to bring you one?”
“No it’s ok, I’ll be there in about, 10 minutes, bye.”
“Bye.”
-
Sara
was sat on the couch talking with Archie about the new video-analysis
equipment that just arrived.
“I spend four hours putting it together and when I turned it on it didn’t work.
I nearly broke the thing into little pieces.” Archie said drinking his coffee.
Sara laughed. “I can imagine, what happened? Wrong lead or connection somewhere?” Sara
pulled her legs up and curled them under her.
“Well, not exactly.” Archie ducked his head to hide his embarrassment.
“Archie you did plug the thing into the mains didn’t you?” Archie didn’t look
up and Sara burst out laughing, she leaned over and hugged him while she ruffled
his hair jokingly. “Archie I can’t believe you.”
Grissom walked in and saw the exchange. He stood by the door and watched as
Sara playfully messes Archie’s hair up while he was trying to push her away.
He cleared his throat and walked in to stop at the end of the couch. “Kindly
unhand my wife.” He said playfully with a huge grin on his face.
Archie laughed and got up. “Hey Grissom, sit down. I gotta get back to work,
see you later Sara.”
“Yeah bye Archie.” Sara looked up at her husband and blushed a deep red. “Hey
honey.”
Grissom went to fill up two cups with coffee then walked back to sit next to
her. Sara’s face still brightly coloured. He handed her a cup, which she took,
there fingers brushing briefly. Grissom stared at her as she stared right back.
They just sat there gazing into each other’s eyes.
Grissom broke the extremely comfortable silence. “You look beautiful today.” Grissom
watched her reaction, which was to turn an even more deep red.
“Gil, stop.” She said smiling. “The policies still apply when where working,
even in the break room.” She took a sip of her coffee and waited for him to say
something else.
Grissom thought about this, but then he remembered. “Well actually, that review
meeting I went to a few months ago, have been mulling over a request I put
in and it came through, oh about…” He looked at his watch and grinned. “10
minutes ago.”
“And the request was?”
“The break room is for breaks which means no work, and the policies when we are
working don’t fully apply in this room. So you see…” He reached out his hand;
traced her lips and brushed his fingers across her cheek to her ear. Sara closed
her eyes at the sensation. He continued as he pulled her towards him slowly. “We
can forget about the PDA’s and PSV’s while in this room and not worry about getting
fired.” He finished speaking as his lips brushed hers softly. Sara placed a hand
on his knee to balance her as he pushed his tongue into her mouth.
They broke the kiss and pulled away. Sara turned and leaned her back against
his chest as he wrapped his arms around her. “I could get use to this at work
every night.” Sara said as she continued to drink her coffee. Grissom picked
up the paper and started on the crossword, waiting for their daughter to arrive.
Warrick walked into the break room and saw Grissom and Sara sitting together
on the couch. He helped himself to a coffee and sat across from them. He looked
at them while he drank his coffee. Neither one of them seemed to even realised
he sat down.
“The rules were made to be broken I suppose.” Warrick muttered as he picked up
a sports magazine and sat back.
Grissom looked up from his crossword and peered over his glasses. “We’re not
braking any rules. This isn’t work time so the rules don’t apply.” He went
back to his crossword and wrote down an answer.
“A review meeting just came in our favour.” Sara said not looking up from the
paper in her hands.
Warrick grinned and shook his head. “It’s about time. It was not fair.” At
that moment Catherine walked into the break room and Warrick stood, walked
up to her and kissed her.
Pulling away with a huge grin, he chuckled and sat back down. Catherine stood
there in complete shock. “Warrick, we could get fired for that. What were you
thinking?”
Warrick looked at her and smiled. “Grissom says the rules don’t apply when
were not working. I’m not working so I was thinking about kissing you and that’s
what I did.” Catherine blushed and sat next to him.
“Well then in that case.” She leaned forward and kissed him.
“Guys please, we’re trying to read here.” Sara said with a grin etched across
her face. Grissom smiled and squeezed her hand he was holding gently.
Nick walked into the room and saw the display. “The request come in, Griss?” Grissom
nodded. “It’s about time. It’s been months.” Warrick and Catherine even Sara
looked at him. “What? Oh Griss Terri’s here. She’s in reception.”
Grissom leaned forward and kissed Sara below her ear. Sara shuffled forward
to allow him to stand and let his hand go at the same time as he did. “I’ll
be back. When’s the monkey getting here?” Grissom stood and put the paper on
the table.
“About 5 maybe 10 minutes, not long now.” Sara leaned back onto the arm Grissom
had his back resting against and smiled at its warmth while she continued to
read the paper.
“Good. Be right back.” Grissom headed towards reception. He rounded the corner
and saw Terri talking to someone from the tech labs. He walked to her and greeted
her as she turned and saw him. “Terri, it’s nice to see you again. Thanks for
coming.”
“Its good to see you too Gil, How have you been?” Terri followed Grissom as he
led her to the break room to see the gang.
“Never been better, how about you? We haven’t seen you in a while, how longs
it been?” Grissom tried to remember.
“It’s been about 3 or 4 years I think and I’m doing fine. Chasing skeletons all
around the world as usual. You still collecting your bug’s?”
“Of course.” Grissom strolled into the break room with Terri beside him. “Everyone,
Terri’s here.”
“Hey Terri, It’s good to see you again.” Catherine shook her hand and sat down
at the table.
Nick and Warrick waved from the couch and said in unison. “Hey.”
Grissom noticed one person missing. “Where’s Sara gone? She was here when I
left.”
“She went out front to get Isabelle. She’ll only be a minute.” Catherine said
opening the case file for the skeleton found at the quarry.
“Well, let’s have a drink before we start and wait for Sara to come back.” Terri
sat at the table with Catherine and looked over the notes for the case.
Grissom went to the fridge and got a beaker of milk out and warmed it up. “Da-da.” Grissom
turned and saw Sara carrying Isabelle. He walked towards them and lifted her
above his head then pulled her to his chest.
“Hey monkey, you gonna stay with me tonight?” Grissom gave her the beaker as
she nodded and wrapped her little arms around his neck.
“I’m just going to put her bag in your office Gil ok?” Sara turned to leave when
Isabelle called out to her.
“Ma-ma.”
Sara turned back and went to her. “You want to come with me sweetheart.” Isabelle
nodded and stretched out her arms to be lifted from her father to her mother.
Sara looked at Grissom and saw him smiling. “What? I can’t help it. She loves
your office.”
“It’s all the bugs.” Grissom said as he watched them walk off. Grissom turned
back to the others and saw Nick grinning at him. “Nicky you find anything we
missed at the crime scene?” Nick stood and walked to the table.
“Nothing good, just some possible fibre’s, might be related to the skeleton,
might not. Greg’s been running tests for a while now.” Nick sat at the table
and pulled a CD out of his pocket and handed it to Grissom. “It’s an old one,
but she likes most of the songs.”
Grissom looked over the CD and smiled. “Thanks Nick. She’ll love it, but…you
should give it to her yourself, you are her uncle.” Grissom handed the CD back
and Nick took it.
“Thanks Griss.” Nick placed the CD on the table and looked over at Catherine
and Terri.
Grissom sat down and pulled the file toward him and read over Catherine’s notes. “Catherine
did you get the database set up for when we get something to compare with?” Grissom
asked still with his head in the folder.
“It’s set up, but like you said we need something to compare.” Catherine drank
some of her now cold coffee and grimaced. “Yuck, we need more coffee. Nick can
you see if those results came back yet? Warrick and me are going for coffee.” Catherine
and Warrick got up to leave.
“No problem Cath. Can you pick up some donuts too. I’m starved?” Nick asked following
them out.
“Yep, Hey Griss?” Catherine turned to him by the door. “You want something?”
Grissom looked up and thought about Sara and Isabelle. “It’s a little more
than coffee, but could you get 2 rhubarb and custards and 2 coffee’s?” Catherine
grinned and nodded.
“Terri you want a coffee?” Catherine asked. Terri nodded and Catherine left with
Warrick.
Grissom turned back to the table and saw Terri staring at him. “Sorry, It’s
been slow and we’re trying to get settled before you find anything for us to
do.”
Terri
nodded in understanding but was still confused about one thing. “No
that’s fine.” Grissom started to read Nick’s report from the
field. “Gil?”
Grissom looked up. “Yes?” He could read confusion in her eyes and then he realised. “Oh
god Terri I’m so sorry. It didn’t cross my mind.” Grissom rubbed his face and
looked at Terri again. “How do I put this?”
“Who is Isabelle? Obviously she called you ‘Da-da’”
“Yes, she’s my daughter and Sara’s her mother.” Grissom looked out the door,
but still didn’t see Sara or Isabelle.
Terri nodded. “I got that bit.”
Sara walked in with Isabelle in her arms drinking from the breaker. Grissom
stood and met them at the door. “You were gone a while.”
Sara laughed and looked down at her daughter and said. “She was tracing the
butterflies and watching your ant farm.”
Grissom brushed Isabelle’s hair back and leaned down to kiss her cheek. “When
you get older I’ll get you your own ant farm.” Isabelle smiled widely. Grissom
looked up at Sara and grinned at her.
“Gil?” Sara arched her eyebrows at his mischievous grin.
Grissom laughed and leaned into her to plant a quick kiss on her lips then
pulled back and lifted Isabelle pulling her into a hug. “Come on monkey. Let’s
find Uncle Nicky, he has something for you.” Grissom looked at Terri. “I’ll
be in the DNA lab if you need me. Sara will show you the skeleton.” He turned
back to Sara. “See you in a little bit honey.” Sara quickly stole a kiss and
let them by.
Sara went to the table and scooped up the file and motioned for Terri to follow
her. “How have you been?” Terri asked putting her bag over her shoulder and
following.
Sara continued to walk. “Never better. How was your flight?” They made their
way to the autopsy lab.
“It was relaxing thanks. How old is Isabelle?” Terri asked extremely curious.
“One year 1 month.” Sara answered with a smile.
“She’s gorgeous. She looks just like you and Gil.” Terri said as they reach
the
autopsy
door.
“I know.” Sara pushed through the door holding it for Terri. They got straight
to work.
A long and gruelling 4 hours later. Sara left Terri to work on a mould she
made to look for Grissom and Isabelle. They weren’t in his office, which was
the last place they were when they all sat down to drink their coffee and rhubarb
and custard Catherine brought them. The next stop was DNA. Sure enough music
was heard as she approached, but not the normal Kid Rock or Black Flag, but
country music. Sara got closer and she could see Grissom sitting on one of
the stools by Greg and was laughing. The closer she got she could see Nick
dancing with Isabelle in his arms.
Sara walked through the door and over to Grissom. She stood behind him and
placed a hand on his lower back. Grissom looked up at her and smiled, he looked
back at Nick and Isabelle dancing. Grissom reached behind him and took her
hands in his and held them. Greg noticed, but didn’t say anything. No one was
about to report them so there was no point in ruining the moment if there was
no need.
Grissom stood and pulled Sara with him. “Dance with me Sara?” Grissom asked
as he pulled her close.
Sara held onto him as they danced. “Gil you're crazy.” He laughed leaning forward
to kiss her lips quickly.
Nick and Greg watched in amusement while Isabelle clapped her tiny hands together
watching her parents dance together.
Grissom held Sara’s right hand in his left, his right hand wrapped around her
waist while Sara’s left hand was around his neck stroking the hair at the base.
They gazed into each other’s eyes as they danced to the music.
Nick turned the music off as it finished. He walked to Grissom and let Isabelle
latch onto him. Grissom let Sara go and held his daughter with one arm.
“She’s getting heavy, what do you feed her?” Nick cheekily remarked as he took
the CD out and placed it in its case.
Sara threw Nick a deadly glare that could have thrown him off his feet. “Nicholas
my daughter is not getting heavy, you must be out of shape.” Greg laughed as
he stood.
Grissom looked at Isabelle as Nick gave her the CD. Isabelle smiled and held
the CD out for her mother. Sara took it. “Thank you sweetie.”
“Nick I know a good gym.” Grissom grinned at him and headed out the room.
“Funny Griss. Thanks Sara.” Sara just smiled and tapped him on the cheek twice.
“Bye Nicky.”
-
“Those
bones were a lot of fun to work on.” Sara said as she strapped
Isabelle in her seat.
Grissom climbed into the driver side and put the keys in the ignition. He waited
for Sara to get in and put her set belt on before starting the car. “It’s not
everyday you find a collection of bones and we can’t find out who they are,
but your right working on them was fun.”
“They seemed older that 70 years and once we managed to figure out what sex the
bones were from all the pelvis pieces, it was a little exciting for a while,
but I don’t like dead ends.” Sara added as she leaned her head on the headrest.
Grissom reached over and squeezed her hand. “I know, but sometimes it’s best
to wait until another lead comes in and until then it’s onto the next case.” Sara
removed her hand briefly from his and moved it over to his leg and squeezed.
Grissom covered her hand and drove out of the car park heading towards home.
The drive home was quiet as both were tired from a long shift. Isabelle had
fallen asleep in her car seat before they were half way home. Sara looked back
at her and squeezed Grissom’s leg that she still had her hand resting on. Grissom
looked in the rear view mirror to see the sleeping beauty and smiled.
“Do you want to go to the lab party tomorrow?” Grissom asked as he pulled into
the driveway.
Sara took a minute to think and then grinned with an idea. “Yeah. It could
be fun.” Sara leaned across and kissed him before jumping out. Sara opened
the back door and unbuckled Isabelle from her seat and cradled her in her arms
as she closed the door with her foot. Grissom opened the front door and let
her pass. “I’ll put her down in her room.” Sara walked towards the nursery.
Grissom slipped off his shoes and sat on the couch. Sara came out of the nursery
and sank into the couch next to him. Cuddling closely as he wrapped his arms
around her. “Catherine won’t be going, she’s got Lindsey, apparently their
going to watch movies and eat popcorn.” Grissom mumbled into her hair.
Sara closed her eyes and pulled him tightly to her as they moved to lie on
the couch. Once comfortable Sara had another idea, but this time decided to
share it allowed. “We could ask Catherine to look after Izzy, just for a few
hours.”
Grissom planted a kiss on her neck. “She already offered.” He smiled against
her collarbone before running his tongue to the hollow of her neck.
“Hmmm…I guess we can go then?” She asked laying their, letting him taste her
while she held him to her.
Grissom lifted his head to her eyes and grinned “Yes…and…the labs going to
be blocked off for the party. The sheriff said something about not wanting
drunken lab personnel damaging evidence.”
“Really?” Sara pulled his head to her and teased him with her lips. “Your office
included in that?” She murmured against his mouth.
Grissom nodded with a seductive grin and traced her lips with his tongue. “Oh
yeah…” Sara giggled and gave him the room to push his tongue into her mouth
and taste her. The kiss slowed as they both become short of breath. They pulled
each other close and drifted into sleep, dreaming of the night to come.
-
The
party was held in the largest conference room in the lab. Lab
techs and CSI’s spent time decorating the room and even hired
a caterer. The party was just for everyone to take a break
from work and have some fun. Forget about death, bodies, blood,
murder, murderers and the victims for just that one night.
The alcohol was free and there was plenty of it. Music came
from the large speakers and filled the room. People were dancing,
talking, playing little pub games, they were all relaxing.
Nick and Greg were drinking, matching pint for pint seeing who could drink
the other under the table the quickest. Both were doing well, neither one was
swaying although they were on there 6th pint each.
“Come on Greg.” Archie cheered on.
“Drink up Nick.” Warrick encouraged him.
Sara and Grissom walked into the room their hands entwined and saw the small
crowd in the corner. They approached and noticed the table filled with pints,
some empty many still full. Everyone was edging them on and cheering. Sara
squeezed Grissom’s hand and leaned into him. “My money’s on Nick.”
Grissom laughed. “What’s the wager?” He said thinking this could be fun.
Sara looked at him in thought then back at Nick and Greg. “Nick: Office, Greg:
Dry Room?” She grinned.
Grissom blushed and nodded. Squeezing her hand he whispered into her ear. “Anywhere,
anytime.”
Sara turned red and turned her head to kiss his cheek. “Come and dance with?” She
asked pulling him towards the dance floor.
Grissom followed never letting her hand go. “Ok, but only because it’s slow
and…it’s you.” He smiled as her held her close and began to lead her around
the dance floor.
Meanwhile on the other side of the room Greg was polishing off his 12th pint.
He heard Archie’s voice. “Your lagging behind Greg, come on man, you can do
it.” Greg picked up another pint and looked at Nick.
Warrick pushed Nick’s 14th pint towards him. Nick lifted it and downed half
of it then taking a few breaths before finishing the other half. Warrick was
grinning and pushed another pint towards him. “Jesus Nick you’re like a fish.” Nick
smiled and downed the 15th pint.
Greg wasn’t feeling too good, but kept his game face on. He picked up his 14th
pint and looked at it. Wasn’t a good idea. Greg put the glass down quick and
ran out the room towards the toilets. Nick’s crowd cheered loudly while Nick
rested his head on the table. Warrick pushed the pints away and patted him
on the back. “Warrick…please don’t…” Was all Nick could manage and Warrick
laughed.
Grissom saw the display as the music stopped then jumped into a faster beat.
He grabbed Sara’s hand and pulled her towards the door. Sara followed looking
back at Nick who just passed out on the table.
“I see my bet won.” Sara said as Grissom unlocked the entrance to the lab. He
turned back once the door was open and pulled her through it.
Sara thought she might tease him just for a while, try and get him worried
a little, just a little. They walked past the layout labs hand in hand. Sara
pulled back a little on his hand, making Grissom stop and look back at her.
She smiled and pulled him towards her. Grissom wasn’t sure that in the corridor
was the best idea. She let go of his hand once he was square with her and ran
her hands slowly up his sides coming to rest on his shoulders. She could tell
he was reluctant to do anything here, but she wanted him to squirm.
Her fingers locked behind his neck as they gazed into each other’s eyes. She
moved forward pushing him against the wall of a lab and leaned into him slowly.
Grissom held her waist still uncertain of the place. He leaned against the
wall as she leaned toward him. Her lips were only inches from his lips as she
licked hers to moist them. Grissom dropped his eyes to her mouth drawn in by
her tongue wetting them slightly. He tried to control himself and Sara sensed
he was going to break anytime.
Before Sara got close enough Grissom pushed off the wall, wrapping his arms
around her waist and lifting her to pin her against the opposite wall. She
grinned at him knowing he was trying so hard to control himself. Her legs held
him tightly around his waist and she could feel him grow harder as he pushed
against her.
Grissom looked down each corridor just to make sure, although it was off limits.
His head snapped back with a boyish grin and leaned in to tease her lips with
his. “Hmmm…” Sara murmured against his mouth waiting for him to allow her access
with her tongue as she traced his lips.
“Sara…” Grissom wanted to continue what they were doing, but didn’t feel safe
in an open place.
Sara continued to tease him with her tongue and once his mouth opened plunged
her tongue in, causing him to stop what he was going to say next. Grissom caved
at that point and couldn’t resist anymore. He decided he was going to have
to bribe his wife, but what with? He kept thinking as they devoured each other
until breathlessness overcame them. They stared at each other waiting.
Sara tilted her head forward, but Grissom pulled back. “We might get caught.” Grissom
said in a whisper. Sara looked at him with an indescribable look.
Still talking in whispered tones. “Gil?” Sara ran her index finger from his
forehead down to his chin. “It’s locked, remember?”
Grissom thought for a second and then a strange feeling hit him. “Actually
no.”
Sara’s jaw dropped at his forgetfulness. “You didn’t lock the door?” Grissom
shook his head. “Gil we are leaving evidence everywhere and you leave the only
access in and out unlocked?” Sara couldn’t believe what was happening. It was
almost dangerous, but this could be a good danger or sorts, she thought before
grinning wickedly.
Grissom suddenly had the same thought and grinned at the same time as she did. “I’ve
just realised that I’ve never done anything like this before. We have broke
the rules…” they both thought about the Dry room. “But never broken the law.” Grissom
leaned forward to place kisses on her neck causing Sara to gasp at the sensation.
“Broken rules we’ve done, broken laws we’ve not done.” Sara said aloud as she
tucked one hand down the collar of his shirt and the other in his hair.
“I said that…” Grissom said between kisses.
“Just clarifying…” She said with a smile, moving her neck to allow him move access. “It’s
kind of…”
“Sexy, dangerous, could be caught at any moment...” Grissom finished pulling
back with a seductive grin.
“Yeah…” Sara trailed off as Grissom pulled them from against the wall and walked
towards his office while still carrying her. He kissed her passionately as he
leaned her against his office door and unlocked it. She let her legs fall slowly
to the floor and once the door was open she grabbed his shirt and pulled him
into his office with such force he nearly fell over. He kicked the door closed
and locked it as quickly. He could see Sara move pieces from his desk to one
side with her back to him.
Grissom approached her quietly not letting her hear him behind her until the
last second. Without his hands touching her he laced tiny kisses over the back
of her neck. Sara took in a short intake of air as she felt his mouth on her
and gripped the desk. Grissom eased his body forward slightly leaning against
her as he continued to kiss her neck and moving along to her shoulder, following
the exposed skin from her thin strapped tank top. Slowly both hands ran from
her thighs up to her waist and stopping briefly before pushing his hips against
hers. Sara pushed back teasingly listening to him groan into her ear.
Sara let the desk go and reached behind her to clasp either side of his pants
and bring him closer to her. Another groan came as she slowly ground against
him. Grissom leaned forward bending them both at the waist. He held her, kneading
the flesh while Sara steadied herself by rest her hands on his desk as he leaned
over her to tease her ear with his tongue. She pushed her buttocks harder against
him loving the feeling and sensation of him growing against her.
She pushed herself up and turned around to face him. Grissom lifted her to
sit on the desk while she pulled her top over her head throwing it to the floor.
Grissom drank in the sight of her upper body as she began working on his pants.
Grissom’s hands caressed her thighs, pulling them apart to manoeuvre between
them. Sara opened his pants and slowly slipped her hand in, watching his reaction.
Grissom’s eyes closed as his head fell back.
“Sara.” He said in a gasp and pushed his hips towards her as she agonisingly
moved slowly on him. She let his boxers fall to the floor with his pants as she
moved faster on him. Grissom grasped her shoulders moaning her name again.
Grissom pulled from her painfully, missing the contact immediately and helped
as she quickly stripped off her clothing and unbuttoned his shirt sending it
sailing to the floor. Once her pants hit the floor Grissom pushed her back
onto the desk and assaulted her mouth with his as she continued her manipulation
of him. Before the end of the long passionate kiss, he entered her with one
quick hard thrust causing Sara to dig her nails into his shoulders nearly drawing
blood. “Oh Gil, YES…” Sara whispered as he thrust harder into her. Grissom’s
legs were so fragile at that time that he was afraid they’d buckle. He held
her tightly, holding him up so he didn’t fall.
The passionate kisses resumed with even more intense lust and want. They gazed
into each other’s eyes watching them darken as the passion heightened with
each powerful lunge.
“Ooh…God…Yes…More…” Grissom tried all he could to accommodate his wife’s request.
Grissom replied barely between breaths. “I’m…trying…Honey…”
“I…know…Its ok…” Grissom slowed with hardly any strength left in him. “The floor
or couch?” Sara asked as their heads rest against each other.
Grissom smiled at her energy. “Floor, more room.” Sara giggled as they moved
onto the carpeted floor. Sara straddled him and it all began again. Grissom
questioned breathlessly. “Where’d you get your energy?” Sara leaned over him
and kissed his chin as the tempo increased. Their hands found each other and
lovingly entwined.
Sara didn’t know how to answer. “Not sure…” He smiled up at her as she came
closer to brush her lips with his. “Stop talking…” She told him before they
had no choice as the ability of speech disappeared from both of them.
-
“I
swear I have no idea where they are.” Warrick’s answer to Bobby’s
question. “They were here about 2 hours ago. I saw them dancing.” Warrick
sat down and took his coffee from Bobby as he handed it to
him.
Bobby sat heavily in the seat next to him. Changing the subject completely. “Greg’s
not well, Heather from the front desk took him home.”
Warrick laughed. “He did turn green with the last pint didn’t he.” Warrick
looked across the room at the dance floor. “I really wanted to dance with Sara,
Where is she?”
Bobby searched the room before asking. “Where’s Nick?”
“Passed out in the toilets. Thought it was the best place for him. You know,
just in case. I’ll take him home later.” Warrick saw Sara enter the room and
stood handing Bobby his coffee. “There’s Sara, see you later.”
“Sure. If you need help with Nick just ask.”
“Thanks man, I might take you up on that.” Warrick walked towards Sara.
Sara poured herself a glass of water and drank the whole glass, she then poured
another and drank it a bit slower as she turned around. She saw Warrick approach
and smiled. “Hey Warrick.”
Warrick stood in front of her and noticed the glass of water. “Thirsty?”
Sara grinned and nodded. “Yep.” She drank the water and refilled it. “Very.”
Warrick couldn’t help the beaming smile. “Where Griss?” Sara’s grin grew.
“Toilet.” Warrick nodded and offered her his arm.
“Care to dance with me Sara?” Warrick escorted her to the dance floor.
“Thank you kind sir.” Sara smiled as they began to drift around the floor.
“You look tired.” Warrick stated. “And dehydrated, you coming down with something?”
Sara blushed slightly and leaned her head on his shoulder so he couldn’t see. “Just
exhausted, that’s all.” Warrick laughed.
Grissom came through the door and headed straight for the water. 3 glasses
later he turned to see Warrick dancing. As the pair turned he saw Sara and
smiled. Sara spotted him and gave a small wave and a wink. Grissom walked to
them.
“May I cut in?” Grissom asked as they stopped. Sara looked up at Warrick who
nodded and turned to leave them, but before he went he noticed Grissom seemed
to be sweating and a little red, even tired looking.
“Griss you don’t look so good. You both look like your coming down with something.” Sara
looked deep into her husband’s eyes and grinned. He returned the gaze as he answered.
“Must be the flu, Warrick...” Warrick laughed. Grissom broke the eye contact
and looked at Warrick. “Nick’s passed out in the toilet.” Warrick grinned and
nodded.
“I know. I’ll take him home later.” Grissom turned back to Sara and Warrick left
them as they started to dance close together.
Sara raised her hand to Grissom’s face and held it to his cheek then to his
forehead. “You sure you’re ok?” She asked with a little concern. Grissom took
her hand in his and brought it to his lips, kissing it then holding it over
his heart, which was still beating rapidly. Sara rests her head on his shoulder
and smiled. “Been up to anything interesting to be dehydrated, high temperature,
breathless? Another women maybe?”
Grissom chuckled and wrapped his arms around her tighter. “There’s only one
women who can do those things to me.” He said in a whisper as he kissed her
hair and pressing his cheek to her head.
“I’m flattered.” She said squeezing his hand covering his heart.
They danced for the rest of the night to all the slow songs. Warrick watched
them closely and rang Catherine to relay what visual evidence he had gathered.
Catherine said she’d repay him for his detective work when he got home.
